Any news on when Turkish Airlines might start flying to Toronto?

No official announcement yet, but both amadeus and travelocity are showing TK 17/18 commencing nonstop flights to YYZ, effective July 11...

A330 - that means no first class ... I understand that most if not all the A340's have the business class, any idea of the A330s that will go into this route.

Istanbul-Toronto-Istanbul flights are planned as 3 flights per week and will be launched as of July 11st, 2009.

While I am excited to see THY/TK finally serving Canada, I am planning a mileage run at the end of the month and the YYZ-IST flight times, well, suck. The 530 pm arrival time means the loss of a major bank of connections from what I have found with the exception of AMM. The next bank is the pre-midnight one which means you don't arrive at your destination until 1, 2 or 3 am in most cases. :(

One other point is that AC Aeroplan just announced mileage accumulation changes to coincide with the new nonstop service, most economy fares will now only earn 70% mileage rather than 100% effective 01JUL09. :td:

One other point of irritation is that thy.com has not been updated to include YYZ as a destination for bookings so I will likely have to use expedia or travelocity...not a great way to launch new service - why keep the A330 on the ground in YYZ for 8 hours?

The YYZ inaugural is today....currently showing enroute with an A340-300 estimated arrival time of 1630.......welcome TK! :)

With this schedule, I guess they must take one airplane to YYZ, land, service it, then turn it around and fly straight back. Wouldn't this mean they take 2 crews - one to work and then one to work on the way back?

Anyway, hope it works out well for TK. I for one look forward to going back to visit Turkey again some time and hopefully TK will be in my travel plans. (If they ever fix their website that is and let me book YYZ! :rolleyes:)

I imagine the crew would lay over for two (or three) nights, and then return to IST. For example, the crew arriving Thursday afternoon would return on Saturday night.

Would TK really do servicing in YYZ? If not, why such a long turn in Toronto - not very efficient use of aircraft, and YYZ slots shouldn't be too difficult.

What type of aircraft does TK fly to/from YYZ? The schedule in August implies a A330 but earlier in this thread the A340 was mentioned.

I want do to YYZ-IST in business class (on miles). What type of a seat can I expect? Is it a new aircraft with AVOD and lie-flat seats?

Has anyone done the YYZ-IST segment?
Are the flights full in Y from YYZ?
How is economy for this segement and from IST-SIN?
How is TK with upgrades of Star members especially when the back is oversold?
