Air New Zealand Air Points - Egg allergy query

Hi
My family and I are flying NZ38 Heathrow-Auckland via Hong Kong in July. :)
My son has an egg allergy. Can any one let me know how I can find out what meals to request for him?
He's not a veggie person so a chicken or beef main meal will be fine as long as there is no egg in the the food.
Can anyone help?
Thanks ^
Richard.

Here is a list of the special meals for Long haul on NZ. Give them a call on Freephone: 0800 028 4149 (UK) to find out what is in some of these meals, i think the only meals that would be 100% egg free are the Vegan Meals.

He may also prefer the fruit platter (FPML) which is, as the name suggests, a dish of cold fruit.
If the FPML and VGML aren't suitable and he wants something with meat in it, he can order a non-standard special meal 'no egg or egg products'. Best to call the Air NZ callcentre direct for this as the computer entry to order such a meal is a little more involved than your standard 'special' meal.

I have an egg intolerence rather than an allergy & normally request a low fat meal as you avoid getting any omlettes, scrambled egg or French toast with your meal. It also means you don't get too many dairy products such as butter or cheese that tend to upset my stomach.
I would not recommend a fruit platter on a long haul flight. My husband had this in 1999 flying LHR - IVC & by the enfdof the journey he was sick of the sight of fruit platters & had severe acid reflux.

Fruit does not cause acid reflux; it can't alter a pressure gradient. As for egg intolerance you mean you don't like eggs, there is no medical condition egg intolerance so why dress it up in pseudo medical terms. I don't like parsnip, i don't say I have a parsnip intolerance.

My husband suffers from a hiatus hernia & gets acid reflux for which he takes medication. Certain things can trigger this, including too much fruit. As for your rude remark about pseudo medical terms, i will not be graphic in describing what eating eggs does to my body in this forum. Lets just say that if i do not reach a restroom fairly quickly accidents happen. So in future kindly try & be a little less judgmental about others in future unless you actually know the person.
BTW; i like eggs, but eggs do not like me.

my body cannot tolerate onions, therefore i often strike out with breakfasts (fritattas etc)
i have never bothered with special meals, but i always ensure there a few goodies in my bag in case i dont like the food served
i think that is a reasonable strategy for those of us who are a bit fussy (for whatever reason), especially those of us down the back

Thanks everyone for the info, esp cavemanzk for the link. I think we will be packing a few bits and probably, now I've seen the list, get a couple so we can swap during the journey. I'll also phone up nearer the time to see if they know exactly what is in the non special meals.
