Hi
I have the following booking coming up in a couple of months. Booked in C
LHR-LAX-CHC-LAX-LHR
LHR-LAX 2 Day Stopover
LAX-CHC
CHC-LAX 2 Day Stopover
LAX-LHR
My Question is will I earn the following
LHR-LAX 315
LAX-CHC 300
CHC-LAX 300
LAX-LHR 315
Or
LHR-CHC 370
CHC-LHR 370
If its the first I will credit to Airpoints as that will push me to gold elite, if the second I will credit to BD as the one trip wil renew gold for anoth year
Advice appreciated
Surely it's the latter, unless using more than one PNR or carrier.

As you have stopovers in LAX it will be the first option.
It definietly pays to have the stopover in LAX or HKG when using NZ Airpoints.
If not stop it is always better to credit to another *A
I think you will find it's the second option, even with the stopover. I discovered this the hard way when I flew LHR-HKG, HKG-AKL with a 6 week stopover and a CoS change.
If you read the T&C it does specify that "journey" flights are only credited at the turnaround points - so you won't even see LHR-LAX appear until you've arrived in CHC.

You will earn based on the second option. As ajnz states, NZ only gives Airpoints based on your point of destination or journey rather than per segment.

DCF et al are correct. Unless there is another airline involved stopovers are ignored on NZ itineraries in determining airbucks & status points earning (despite the T&C wording).

Really?
Well sorry guys for my mistake.:o This just shows how NZ Airpoints must be the worst FFP, especially for long haul. :td:

what about doing NZ 6 and switching to NZ 2. What does that earn

Still only 370 as the Airpoints given are based on your starting destination and finishing destination regardless of how long it takes or what different flights you take.

OT: I booked a multi-city domestic the other day DUD-AKL//WLG with 5 days in AKL before heading down in WLG. Do I get 12 status points for DUD-AKL and another 12 for AKL-WLG or do I only get 12 status points with NZ only recognising DUD as starting point and WLG as finishing point?

Although of course in this case you could credit NZ2 to a different program and NZ6 to airpoints to be slightly better off (depending on your circumstances) in aggregate.

NZ_Flyer DUD-AKL-WLG is 2 journeys.

NZ_Flyer DUD-AKL-WLG is 2 journeys. Is that because the direction reverses?
And I'm curious what impact - if any - an open-jaw sector would have on the definition of 'journey'? i.e. In reference to the OP, would something like LHR-LAX-SMF-[]-LAX-CHC-LAX-LAS-[]-LAX-LHR change the answer to the question?

Hi Guys
thanks for the confirmation, I will credit them to BD then.
Sory for the late reply, just got off the NZ38 in Hong Kong (Seperate Trip), These I have credited to NZ as it was one of the £8 plus tax reverse auction tickets, so only way to get anything was to use NZ
Sure i will have more cheapies to stick on the NZ account in futute, but looks like for status BD is still the winner!
Thanks.

Probably. That is a mixed airline itinerary - the use of another airline breaks the journey on NZ metal.
