Hi All,

I need some help - I want to book a *A J class award from New York to Phnom Penh using SA Voyager points. Now when I read the chart I am not sure about the following:

1) Am I restricted to flying TATL or TPAC - for instance if I chose SQ I could go either way? Could I use SQ and go out TPAC and back TATL via FRA?

2) I think if I chose SQ that I am allowed 1 free stopover in SIN if I read the rules correctly - can anyone confirm that?

3) Reading posts here it seems that getting an award ticket with SQ especially in the premium cabins is very difficult - so if not SQ then who should I chose (it appears I can have a combination of *A airlines and a maximum of 6 sectors in total)

Apologies if I am just being stupid and the rules are clearly marked somewhere - but right now I am a little confused as to what exactly I can and can't do. Appreciate any help.

There are no general award rules for * airlines - they are very different and specific to the program you are using. If you don't get a good answer here try the specific forum for SAA.

And yes, SQ is likely the most difficult airline to find premium award seats, especially on their newer planes it is almost impossible.

Note SQ doesn't fly to Phnom Penh. SIN-PNH is a codeshare on Silkair, and thus unavailable for *A awards. IIRC TG flies to REP rather than PNH but this may have changed since I last checked it out.

Thanks for that - yes indeed only Silk Air that flies from SIN. TG does fly directly to PNH so they are an option. As TG have stopped the JFK flights I would probably take SQ through to BKK - and then the same thing would apply - can I go TATL or TPAC or am I restricted to one way or the other.

You need to check with SA Voyager, as each FFP has it's own rules for awards.

Will do so as their rules are very unclear on the issue - and was hoping someone here would know......dealing with Voyager is like going to the dentist, trying to understand technical support from an Indian call center, running barefoot over hot coals and sitting your final exams all rolled into one - may the force be with me :)

As this is specifically about SA's scheme I am going to move the thread there.

OZ flies to PNH, so the shortest way would be JFK-ICN-PNH, albeit with loooong connections.

TG absolutely flies to Phnom Penh. Enjoy cambo!
