iDine/Rewards Network - Possible to triple-dip? RN, OpenTable, Restaurant.com, etc.

I've been doing quite well double-dipping with RN bonuses and OpenTable's $20 for two off-hour dines, and I wonder if there are any restaurants that subscribe to all three of these programs. I've searched, but haven't found any. I wonder if any of the three is mutually exclusive with another, or too expensive for a restaurant to do both. If someone knows triple-dipping is possible, I'll keep looking. Thank you. :)

I once used a Restaurant.com certificate at a restaurant that participated in both that program and idine/RN, and used a RN-registered cc to pay, but didn't get any miles from RN. I believe that those restaurants that participate in both programs usually prohibit this kind of double-dipping, but of course a mistake could always occur. ;)

(BTW, I seem to recall that this topic has been covered in another thread, in passing at least.)

When you use a coupon, be it Restaurant.com or Entertainment book, the restaurant has a way of flagging the receipt to show that fact. Then RN does not give miles. But most resto employees don't know how to set the flag or are too lazy to do it.

Has happened to me exactly once. Went to a Moroccan place near my home, used an Entertainment card and did not get iDine miles. Called iDine and they said, "our records show you used a discount coupon".

Have probably double-dipped RN and ENT a half dozen times so batting 86% on that double dip. Never went back to said Moroccan place.

I like firewind am double dipping RN and OT whenever possible. Most of my dines are expense account so no benny in using ENT or R.com.

Thank you, gardener. And thank you, Waldorf Kathy. You've at least motivated me to keep looking, also for those elusive threads -- I hadn't found anything about trippling. :)

You should have done the very obvious thing and searched this forum using "restaurant.com" as your keyword. @:-)

There are (at least) two threads -- easily found using "Search this forum," "Advanced," "Titles-only." If you try the search again and use "Search entire threads" instead of only the titles, you will probably get more results (which may or may not be interesting/relevant).

I have a very hard time using restaurant.com coupons in the first place (still have a lot of credit on my account from a mega-cert purchase a few years ago), because of all the restrictions on redemption (limited days of week, minimum purchase, minimum number of diners, minimum number of entrees, yadayada). So I don't usually make much effort to try to find RN + restaurant.com double-dipping opportunities. Especially since the double-dipping doesn't necessarily work anyhow, as I stated in my post above. RN + Opentable is more feasible for me, but it's still like looking for a needle in a haystack (even more so because restaurants tend to join and then leave RN with alarming frequency).

OpenTable's offer of 1k points for off peak dines is great. But it's annoying that according to t&c you don't get the bonus if you book on mobile device ie. iPhone app or m.opentable.com - one would think they were putting deliberate catches in place!

how about the restaurants that give % off for AAA members ? potential 4x dip ??

i've gotten RN points at a restaurant that also gave me the AAA discount (like 15 or 20%), but have not combined it with restaurant.com. will have to try this opentable thing.

Unlikely that when you use the paper cert of restaurant.com that you will also get another discount -- in addition, sometimes the restos state that no discounts will be permitted on special meals like prix fixe and the like.

But, you could always try if you wish.

A quadruple dip that would likely work would be to buy a gift card at a resto that provides a discount on the gift card with a RN linked credit card, using a resto.com cert and it being on opentable. :)

Also, remember that some restos are in Starwood hotels and therefore independently qualify for SPG points. An example is the hotel resto in the Westin Tysons Corner in VA that participates and is also on resto.com

Wow...didn't realize this! Does this only apply to 1k point bookings or do they not offer any points for booking via the iPhone app? Flyertalk saves me again because I was getting ready to make a resi. Will just access the OT website via Safari and book that way.

Right now you can cash in 45 Swagbucks for a $25 gift card at Restaurant.com. The swagbucks are easy to get. You can register through the conga in SPAM or you can use my referral link below.

http://swagbucks.com/refer/Cornroaster

This is a short time special. Ordinarily a $25 gift card for Restaurant.com would cost 185 Swagbucks.

So far, I do not believe I have been denied the 100 or 1,000 points for using the mobile OpenTable app on my Droid X.

Using my I phone I have been getting the 100 or 1000 points on Open table. But these monthly AMex Debit Cards are a pain. I much prefered the $50 checks.

Interesting! I am still getting checks, treated the same way as American Express Travelers Cheques by the restaurant.

Dinner my wife and I had tonight at Em Chamas Brazilian Grill (http://www.emchamas.com/):

$50 Groupon for $25 -> Purchased through AAdvantage shopping -> 200 AA miles -> purchased with Diners Club card -> 25 DC points

OpenTable off-hours dine -> $10 in credit

Rewards Network -> $24.81 final bill (remaining balance plus tip) -> 124 UA miles -> 74 HHonors pionts for Surpass AMEX

KC Originals Dining Program (http://www.kcoriginals.com/) -> $3.67 in restaurant credit

So, for $49.81 in total cash expenditures we got:

200 AA miles
124 UA miles
74 HHonors points
25 DC points
$10 OpenTable credit
$3.67 KC Originals credit

and of course ...

1 nice dinner for two

Looks like a double triple-dip to me, credit in six programs with a single dine! :D

Bravo, Mr. B. I don't think I've seen anyone able to squeeze more out of several programs at one time than you. ^

I am also getting the $50 check for open table - but I-Dine is sending me a monthly Debit Card/Amex (I am taking the 15% I Dine, after the first $750 instead of AA Miles)

As suggested above, can we stack Groupon/Restaurant.com and still get miles with the Dining rewards network?

Some places are very strict and not offering miles when any other discounts / promos are involved, such as Entertainment, Groupon, etc. but many restaurants' employees basically just process the totals to the credit card processor - and therefore RN - in the entirety with no indication this was a discounted dine.

As suggested by sdsearch, your post has been added to the main thread.

As suggested above, can we stack Groupon/Restaurant.com and still get miles with the Dining rewards network?
