$500 off room rate (not valid for taxes/fees) through September on a min three night stay through June 30th or a min 2 night stay July or August.
Not the world's most useful perk for NYC-residents, but, being between residences, it'll be a great place to spend a few nights in July.
Not Ralph Lauren, not Barney's, but I'll take it over nothing.

Neglected to mention that it was (apparently) a Cent promotion in the mail. Apparently.

Do you think Business Centurions are eligible, or personal only?

True, but the Cent/Plat Wynn deal covered the business card, I believe, as did the free LXR night last year - figured it's worth inquiring about at least.

and three nights later this month on the most affordable room were going to be in the neighborhood of $475 a night before taxes at the FHR rate. In the case of a minimum 3 night stay, it seemed to be a pay for 2 get one free night kind of deal.
I'm going to check back again if I have another trip to the area during the time when only 2 nights are required.

Thanks!
Just got it in the mail yesterday.

So, how is the second time you asked this question different than the first time you asked it?
If someone want to provide this to you, they will likely PM you with the information. If no one wants to they will not.
Asking the question every few hours won't change the outcome.
And welcome to FT!

I just received this promotion in the mail - sounds like a great deal.
I read the terms carefully, and it seems that if you book through FHR you must stay 3 or 2 (in July and August) however does it also mean that if you do not book through FHR- thus do not get the amenity and upgrade, that you can use the $500 for one night?
Does anyone have an answer to this- I was thinking about checking with the hotel.

JW

I think the use of the certificate is dependent upon booking through FHR and staying 2/3 nights. I would not read the certificate the way you are trying to, but you can certainly ask the hotel about it and see what they say.

I received promo as well and the certificate is included in the mailing.
Add'l info says: "For reservations please call or refer your travel professional to Platinum Travel Service at 800.443.7672 by August 28th. Be sure to mention promotion code AEFHR010...."
Hope this helps.

I received mine on Tuesday. Considering that the promotion started in June, it would have been nice to receive it a little earlier... but...
I called yesterday to make a reservation. The PTA was unfamiliar with the promotion, but was able to look it up using the promotion code. She was reading the information outloud (I guess the first time for her) and mentioned the card was sent to only 150,000 platinum card holders.
I made a reservation for two nights, Friday, August 7 thru Sunday, August 9. The price per night was $365 + tax for a "superior room". I checked every weekend in August and they were all the same price. The total with tax was $820.
The FHR benefits include - upgrade at check-in if available, 4 p.m. late checkout, continental breakfast for two each morning (room service or restaurant), lunch for two once (only at the rooftop restaurant, no room service).
I took advantage of the Wynn/Encore promo, and now this one. If AX sends at least one of these a year, I can definitely justify the annual fee. I was upset about the discontinuation of the 2-4-1 domestic airfare program, but pretty happy with the current hotel promos.
Hope all this info helps - if you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

quick question on this, can one use the coupon with the "20% off advance booking" that GPH is doing? i searched hotels on the amex travel site and it automatically came up with that...$316 a night for a weekend stay....vs $395 at basic rate....

Not to burst your bubble cyccyn129, but Virtuoso (FHR's main rival) has the same superior room, with the same breakie perk and lunch perk, for 771.36 tax in. Every 2nd night is 50% off the usual rate. Valid until the end of August, no coupons required.

But if you apply the $500 coupon, the total FHR rate goes from $820 to $320, that's the poiint.

Has anyone been to this hotel?
I'm supposed to fly out to NYC in Sept/Oct, I'm almost wondering if its worth my time to fly out earlier in August, and check this deal out.

I just got back from staying at the Gramercy Park Hotel for this promotion.
Check in: Arrived at the hotel around 1:30 p.m. I was told I had been upgraded twice, from a Superior Room ($345) to a Loft. I checked online, and it was actually a Deluxe Loft ($515). I was given a pre-printed card from Amex that detailed the FHR perks.
Hotel / Room: I've had difficulty explaining the hotel. It's modern, but not W modern. More like weird, artsy modern. And very, VERY dark. The room was big, a corner room, and almost seemed like it was originally two rooms with the wall knocked down. The decor has a bit of a matador theme to it. The bathroom was an okay size, with a shower big enough for two, but again, bad lighting. The bed was firm and comfy, and the italian sheets did not disappoint. The room was the quietest I had ever had in New York.
FHR perks: Breakfast each morning was included, as well as lunch for two once. We had all meals at the rooftop restaurant, which was very nice, especially since the weather was amazing and the glass enclosure was open. For lunch, they took off $80 from the final bill. Our lunch bill was more than double that because of the bottle of wine we ordered. We had asked if we could order room service for breakfast, but were told we had to eat in the restaurant. I also asked the front desk if we had to order the "continental breakfast" (that's what it said on the FHR card) and was told "yes". However, our server at the restaurant said we could order whatever we wanted, and a set amount would be deducted from the final bill. We ordered off the regular menu, and sure enough, $60 a day was deducted from the final bill. We were also given late checkout without having to ask.
Checkout: Checked out at the front desk and asked for a copy of the bill. $80 had been deducted for lunch, and $60 deducted from the 1st breakfast. However, I had to point out that breakfast #2 still appeared on the bill. It took her a few minutes to figure it out, but she deducted another $60. I had a balance for all meals because I went over the credit amount. So, I'm not sure if a $60 breakfast, included tax and tip, would have been totally comped.
Overall: I enjoyed my stay at the Gramercy Park Hotel and was glad I received the gift certificate from Amex. Due to the quiet area, I wouldn’t have picked the hotel, but was glad I was able to check it out. The service was good overall, but not even close to the best I've ever received. I doubt I would stay here again if I had to pay $350+ a night. Just not my style. Also, everyone I encountered at the hotel was staying because of the Amex certificate. If their goal was to get bodies in the beds, they definitely succeeded.
Pet Peeve: On Saturday night, I returned to the hotel around 1:30 a.m. and wanted to have a nightcap before bed. I went up to the rooftop terrace, but was told it was closed for a private event. I went down to the lobby to ask if I could have a drink in the Jade Bar. I was told I needed a reservation, but could ask the door man if there had been any cancellations. Although I was told at check in I would need a reservation after 9 p.m. (even if I was a hotel guest), I found it pretty ridiculous that it was so difficult to get a drink. Oh, and when I had a drink at the Jade Bar the day before, it was $17 for a stoli and club soda.
