My wife and I are spending four days in the Bahamas next week, staying at the Colonial Hilton in Nassau. She's 28 weeks pregnant, so this is meant to be our last big trip before it's more than just the two of us. :D Can anyone recommend things to do or see in the area that are friendly for pregnant women (ie preferably no long hikes or other things that would have her on her feet for long stretches)?

Would a carriage ride be too bumpy?

Only been there once, but you can stroll the waterfront boardwalk which is literally just a few steps from the door of the hotel. If there is a cruise ship in town, the boardwalk will be busy with souvenir vendors and visiting cruise ship PAX. The NAS Hilton has a very small, but very sandy beach. There were several cruise ship PAX paying to use the beach during my stay. I believe this propery also has a spa.

Hmmm... we were there a year ago Christmas four months pregnant. We just sort of did everything we usually do:

Long walks - both beach and outside the resort; casinos; restaurants; swiming - both pool and ocean; local Bahamian food for lunch at the enclave near the entrance to the aquarium; bus downtown; ferry to Paradise Island; walk back across bridge to Nassau...

We don't do suba, jet ski or go to local attractions (seen em all) so I can't speak to that, except to say they will all have their own guidelins and rules as to what is suitable for pregnancy. And with respect to the above activities, Mrs. Flews just used common sense as to what, when or how hard to push herself. Lots of afternoon naps too lol!

All in all a nice relaxing last 10 days for "freedom" before we had the twins!

Cheers,
