Make sure you sign up for a NW WorldPerks account too. Get all the free miles (that post instantly) at WorldPerks University (http://www.nwa.com/worldperks/university/) and them combine your DL and NW accounts (https://www.nwa.com/worldperks/acctlink/) for free. Once you link the two accounts, you will get 1,000 bonus miles (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/northwest-worldperks/959350-now-get-1000-miles-link-dl-nwa-accounts.html)!
If you want to really play the game, do both the Delta Pile on the Miles (https://www.delta.com/marketing/pileonmiles/index.jsp) and Northwest 1,000 Miles per Activity (http://www.nwa.com/features/mdg09/?omni=em.solo.20090424.v2.momsdadsgrads.WPMallSolo .CTA) promos as well. Both programs offers have Flyertalk links (DL promo (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delta-skymiles/946079-up-25k-bonus-miles-partner-activity-apr22-jun22-38.html) and NW promo link (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/northwest-worldperks/946816-earn-up-10-000-miles-worldperks-mall.html) here) that show you how to earn thousands of miles for free on these promos.
Play the game, baby. Play the game! Even if you never fly Delta, there is no reason you can't earn over 40,000 miles at hardly any cost (excluding the car rentals) within the next few weeks!!! Hurry, most of these offers expire end of June.

Refresh my memory if you (anyone) please. If I rent for 1-day and 7 hours I usually am charged the same as if I booked for exactly 2 days. Will Avis come back and say "sorry, you didn't rent for two days"? FTR, it is impossible for me to pick up the car any earlier or return it any later (flight schedules).
When I book using the 2-day coupon code I do not get any error message saying the rental does not meet the requirements but I usually only get this when my AWD code is not applicable, not the coupon code.
Thanks in advance.

Have you tried any of the codes on the Sticky at the top of the Avis thread? Basically, it's trial & error to see what's best. Other than the Avis employee code (and DON'T try it), it's tough to tell what'll be cheapest for your needs.

You should be ok if you do it before they print your receipt. As such, when you get to the return area, stop the returns agent and head inside with your gas and mileage level. Ask them to apply the coupon and make sure your DL ffp # is on your res.

+1 Stop the guy/gal with the hand-held return machines. When trying to get proper credit going to the counter AFTER the return was processed in the garage it would appear I got the credit but then I would have to fight for it later via email. Returning at the counter and insisting that they check the FF number and coupon code always has worked without trouble. Mrp Alert is right ... (and my hero).

the AWD they advise you to use only gets you maybe 25% off rates. It is not necessary to use to get the miles. The coupon is the key.

$51.80 all-in is not a bad deal in California given the atrocious taxes out there. Check out the G540700 code as it sometimes helps a bit with the price. Also, try booking on AA.com, Delta.com, and Southwest.com both with and without corporate codes as you sometimes will find a better rate on the airline sites.

If your timeframes meet the weekend-rate parameters, you don't mind a compact and it's before June 30, try plugging in X838000 in the AWD field to use with the MUAA088.
I need to rent for 3 days for an FLL trip soon and it was giving total base rates from $126-143 for the entire stay. With the new AWD, one option popped up for a compact at $59.97, or 19.99/day. It also accepted the coupon. The all-in total was about $91 (taxes in FLL very high), which is the best I could coax out of Alamo or National, but without the mile bonus.
Here's the Mousesavers.com page where I found the code (http://www.mousesavers.com/avis.html)
Could be very helpful for weekend rents in other cities where other rates are stubbornly high.

So before picking up the Avis car, where do you park your own car if street parking is not available? Paying parking for my car at SEA before picking up the rental car adds to the cpm. Yes, it's poorly worded by Avis. To qualify as a Weekend Rental:
1. If U pick-up Thu. or Fri., U must keep it at least till Sat. AM.
2. U must check the car out of the Avis garage (pick it up) before 3 PM Sunday, which of course includes all day Sat.!

Can we make two 2-day rentals back to back from the same airport or is that not allowed?
Last year I did 3 2-day rentals at PHX with Budget back-to-back. I got the bonus on all 3. Several times I have dropped of one 4-day rental at Avis just to walk over to the Preferred board and find my space for another rental. I have always gotten the bonuses. I am fairly confident that you are paying more for the back-to-backs in total then you would if they were combined into one rental. If not on rate then on the combined taxes. But Avis should have no problem as long as you don't exceed the 5 limit cap for MUAA088. But then again, I exceeded the 3-limit cap on a promo Avis did last year as well as one Budget did and got all my bonuses. Fear not. There is nothing in the T&C about consecutive rentals at the same location.
I think hotels do this because there is (usually) no incremental costs to checking out and checking back in each day. So they disallow this behavior. I have never known any car rental promotion that disallows consecutive rentals at the same location.

My miles finally batch posted last week.
Me too, on Friday the 10th. 10,200 from two rentals. One ending 6/29 and one ending 7/1. Another 5,500 came at that same time for a 5-day rental using MUAA133.

Didn't get mine yet, but the last time I was given a "receipt" for 5500 miles earned when I returned the car. I will have a qualifying rental again later next week.

Here are the post dates for Avis on my account so far this year: 3/10, 3/24, 4/3, 4/10, 4/24, 5/3, 5/17, 5/24, 6/3, 6/24, 7/3, 7/10
So the pattern looks like miles are posted on the 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th of each month. So I would think your bonus will post either this Friday or next Friday.

same thing for me
usually its one of the two dates closest to your turn in date.. sometimes if you are too close to the (say the) 10th.. it will go to the 17th..

This was suppose to end July 31. My Avis receipt last week included the 5,000 bonus miles. I'll be interested to see if it posts to Delta.

Are you sure you didn't use coupon MUAA133 for last week's rental? That coupon is good for any 4+ day rental and is also a bonus of 5K. It's good until Dec 31, 2009. If you did not and you got 5K for a 2-day rental then.... CONGRATS!!!! :D:):D:cool::)

Nothing Posted from my Aug. 24 rental. If the above posting dates are correct, I should see something later this week.
I did use MUAA088,although I had it for 4 days.
I'll try it again for this weeks (3 day). Maybe they extended it. At least I can hope.

It'd be interesting to put that coupon code into avis.com and see if it works? Maybe i'll try that on my next reservation. I might, after all, they are one company, right?

Two companies (subsidiaries) under the Avis Budget Group (http://www.avisbudgetgroup.com/). I have never heard of a coupon code for Avis working for a Budget rental or vice versa. Good luck and post your results. :)
