Does anyone have a recommendation for a reputable website, booking engine or agent for short stay or serviced apts in Madrid?

I used them in my travels in Asia and South America because I don't think major hotels offer good value for the prices charged, plus I do like apts which are located in residential neighborhoods rather than business districts.

I'm not sure what you mean by serviced. If you mean apartments with hotel services there are at least three that I know of, all of them of pretty low standard. (Short beds with worn matresses, etc.)

For short term rent I have had good luck with Apartments Apart (http://www.apartmentsapart.com/madrid_hotels/index.htm?cid=272403). I was less happy with an earlier rental from Rent4days (http://www.rent4days.com/madrid-apartments/).

None of these have given me economical problems, it is just the standard that has been disappointing in some cases.
