Hello all,

I will be in Stockholm for 4 days by the end of June. I am looking for sleeping options. Criterias are as follow : quiet, charming.

If possible, I would like to avoid any of the big chain hotels without particular atmosphere.

Any suggestions?

I would defiantly consider hotel Hasselbacken. Although it is owned by a chain (Scandic) you don’t see anything of it. It is located on the (Royal) island Djurgården, a short boat trip or 15 minutes waterfront walk into central Stockholm. I think it's what you are looking for.

Scandic Hasselbacken (http://www.scandichotels.com/en/Hotels/Countries/Sweden/Stockholm/Hotels/Scandic-Hasselbacken/)

Another option could be the newly opened Lydmar hotel. It is located next to Grand hotel opposite the Royal Castle. A bit more traffic though. Excellent view and trendy terrace bar on the roof.

Lydmar Hotel (http://www.lydmar.com/)

I’d also have a look at the Park Hotel. It’s located in a quiet residential area with only a short 3 min walk through the nice park of Humlegården to get in to where most restaurants and shops are located.

The Park is our choice of hotel for clients who wants some peace and quiet but still like to go out ones in a while. Hasselbacken would still be the one of the three that is most quiet.

Anbrands suggestion of Scandic Hasselbacken is a good one. The hotel is charming (not luxury, though) and the location is fabulous.

Some of the Old Town boutique hotels like Victory, Lady Hamilton, or Lord Nelson would also fit the bill.

One further option would be the Mälardrottningen boat hotel. (http://eng.malardrottningen.se/). Haven't stayed there so I cannot comment on quality, but it would be certainly a different experience in Stockholm. People on TripAdvisor seem to generally like it (within its limitations).

Cheers,
T.

I like the Victory, and Lady Hamilton is probably fine -- Lord Nelson is a bit cramped, though all are quite charming and nicely decorated with antiques. Victory has a highly-rated restaurant.

What you need to realize about Gamla Stan is that sound echoes off the cobblestones, and people are out strolling and talking till late, especially in summer. Lord Nelson gets a lot of street noise even in winter. Victory is more out of the way so probably not a problem. Lady Hamilton might get some noise but you could probably ask for an inside room.

We've stayed at the Scandic Hasselbacken and it was really great : very friendly staff, calm and great garden.

We spent the most part of our time in Djurgarden. Really a great suggestion. Thanks all.
