Passengers who are willing to do this would see the cost of checking in a bag reduced, but the airline was unable to say by how much.

You have to marvel at the media's willingness to print any kind of drivel about FR.

As the article points out, there are security and other considerations. While it might be theoretically possible at small airports like Friedrichshafen or Aarhus, I just don't see it at STN.

Actually, this is not a new idea. The Ilyushin IL-86 widebody was designed AIUI to allow pax to load their bags directly into the plane. As I always refused to use Aeroflot, I have no personal experience of this.

And the toilet charge was always a non-starter IMO.

Actually, in the early days EZ removed an inflight loo from their planes and gained 6 (IIRC) additional seats.
