Last week I spend 4 rather entertaining nights at the Radisson SAS Baku hotel. Good points in the property are few except for the rather large rooms, about 500 sq ft and one very nice and rather helpful lady on reception.

Bad points were many.

Firstly the airport pickup driver wouldn't let us out of the car until we paid him, this was supposed to be on my room tab, I even received an email stating this from the hotel.

For a 5 star property the breakfast was appalling, in fact it was so bad I couldn't eat it, then they hit me with a 25 euro bill. I had breakfast at McDonald's for the next 3 days.

On checkout my statement had multiple bar charges which were not mine, the signature was a terrible copy of mine, there was also charges for laundry which should have been free. The receptionist didn't want to remove either bogus charge these from my account, I had to log on to the net to prove that Gold Elite members were entitled to a free item of laundry per day. My colleague was then charged a fee to pay with diners and had to pay in USD.

So I've written a letter to Gold Points and asked them to put their money where there 100% satisfaction guarantee is and give me a full refund. So what do you think my chances are? I say slim to F/A, but it's worth a go.

Sounds like a good idea, you have evidence to prove that certain things were due to you and these didn't materialise. Heck they even struggled to accept fraudulent charges on your room.

I would say you're fully entitled to make a claim under the satisfaction guarantee.

I reckon maybe 30-40% chance of success knowing how slippery their customer service agents can be. Let us know how you get on.

Well bugger me I got a refund, not a very big refund granted but it was something. The hotel refunded all my food and beverage charges.
