We have to get from our JAL gate (T1) over to a connecting LAN Peru/Aeromexico flight (T2).

I have tried to use the "new" airport website but it's a beast to navigate. I am assuming that the tram that connects the two airports is outside security? Could anyone verify how to get from one international flight to another in different terminals at MEX?

Thanks.

Yes, the tram is outside security. When you arrive in T1, you'll need to walk a bit to get to the "domestic" side of T1, outside of which the station for the tram is located. You need to have a boarding pass or printout of your itinerary for your connection - they will NOT let you board the tram without one of these documents.

The tram departs only every 15 mins, so plan for a bit of time. Once in T2, the walking is less.

Thanks!

We have 5hr's one way and 3hrs the other to clear customs and get to the other terminal. I think our bags are interlined however if anyone can confirm that JAL will interline to LAN (going) & Aeromexico to JAL (coming).

Always make me a little nervous when the airlines are not all members of the same alliance.

That's plenty of time, even if interlining does not work. Personally, I would just collect my luggage and re-check it (unless of course you want to avoid Mexican customs for whatever reason).

MEX has some excellent dining options in both terminals (Barraca Orraca for Mexican, Casa Avila for Spanish, along with ample food courts), and a small outlet (with exhibit) of the National Anthropology Museum in T2.
