Jenbel Jun 2, 09, 12:32 pm I'm going to move this over to the VX forum, since it's about that airline Jenbel Co-moderator, Virgin Flying Club Potreroflyr Jun 12, 09, 10:26 pm Tried searching, but this thread comes as close as any. Taking my first Virgin America flight tomorrow. Their carry-on policy seems pretty restrictive: 50" total (HxWxL) and 16 pounds! That rules out most wheeled suitcases (including mine), right? Do they really enforce that? eponymous_coward Jun 12, 09, 10:37 pm I've never had anything weighed on a VX flight for carryon, and I use a standard rollaboard that fits in most modern overheads wheels-out (save for MD80s or MD90s, where it goes in lengthwise). 16 pounds carryone does remind me of some of the European TATL carriers- the time I flew LH I used a duffel bag instead of a rollaboard just to save a few pounds on carryon luggage. SFO 1K Jun 12, 09, 10:39 pm You won't get your bag weighed if it's carry on size and you can carry it yourself. Potreroflyr Jun 13, 09, 12:41 am You won't get your bag weighed if it's carry on size and you can carry it yourself. Thanks for the replies! Sounds like they're reasonable about enforcement, even though VX's official "carry-on size" differs from real life carry ons. :D Down_the_back Jun 14, 09, 10:04 am I am traveling from BOM (via DXB) to SFO with an onward flight to LAS, all First Class. I know I have a 2 bag allowance, whilst I have 3 bags, one of which is Golf Clubs, carried foc on emirates, do Virgin America have the same policy??:p. I dount i will be able to do a through check from BOM, if this was the case, then I would have no problems - do i need to get 15U$ ready to hand over at check in? Also, once i have cleared my backs at teh International Arrival Hall, do VX have a check in counter close by, or do I have to lug them all over the place?? |
