New here, and hope that someone will have some words of advice for me.

I booked a round-triip flight from Missouri to Paris for my wife to visit her family through the largest local travel agency (who we have delt with for . My wife leaves tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. I made if very clear that I was booking the flight for my wife, and they sent us an electronic ticket by mail.

We noticed this morning that the ticket is in my name and not my wifes.
After many calls, the travel agency says this:

They will give us an $875 credit for the $1200 original ticket, and want an additional $2674 for a new ticket in her name. They have already booked her in my original seats going and coming.

Does this sound cricket? It seems to me that they should replace the ticket. I'm not sure if we have any email corespondance or not, as my wife is a teacher and they are on her computer in her classroom which we are not able to get to at this time

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
We really cannot afford this.

Thanks,

Do you mean that you just bought the ticket for a trip to Paris tomorrow? Call the airline and ask for their help. If you've had this ticket for a while and just noticed it, then the agency is assuming you are trying to pull a last minute swtich. They have little to go on and they will have to absorb the costs if you don't.

Thanks, but no we purchased the ticket in March for the flight tomorrow.
They just put it in the wrong name.

Thanks,

Ken

I would call that airline, perhaps even post in that airline forum here and see if anyone has any suggestions.

I think if you booked a ticket in March and just noticed today that the name is wrong that unfortunately you may be out of luck. Without a paper trail to show that you requested the ticket in your wife's name, the travel agent has no obligation to eat the change fees. You mentioned that you might have an e-mail at school, I'd do everything I could to get to that so you can show you requested the ticket in her name. You do have an obligation to verify the accuracy of the ticket once it's sent to you, and it seems as though you didn't do that. Sorry.
