Can you bring your EZPass on the airplane to put on a rental car at your destination? If so, will it get damaged by the airport screening machines? Do you have to remove it from your bag and put it in the bin for metal items?

Iirc easy Pass requests that you notify them if you put it in a different vehicle.

Yes, I know. I've used my EZPass on many rental cars picked up locally with no problems. But this time I'm flying to Miami and doing the $5/day Hertz one-way back home to NY. I know that once I-95 gets near Virginia, tolls start cropping up, with increasing frequency and higher rates as you get closer to NY. NJ in particular is chock full of them. I'd rather not carry wads of cash for tolls and I'd also like to get the EZPass discount.

As my EZ-Pass is paid by my employer, and I cannot expense the EZ Pass charges from rental companies, I carry it in my laptop bag on pretty much every trip. I've never been asked to take it out that I can recall.

Insofar as updating the vehicle reg numbers every time for different cars, I've never bothered, and it's never been questioned in the 6 years I've had it.
