Finnair Plus - Challenge to Finnair :)

Egoistic wish - a while ago there was a topic where should Finnair fly. Air Baltic starts Flying from Tartu (TAY) - RIX on 03.07.2009.
Surely Finnair could follow it up with a service to feed their flights. I would fly MAN-TAY with my wife 4 times a year given the opportunity :)

Perhaps similar flight that they have HEL-TLL. Late from Helsinki and early back.

Thanks to the OP for the info - booked a flight to TAY yesterday.
I proposed something like this some time ago while speculating about the future FC plane deliveries - there are still many ATRs to come if they stick to the original delivery plan. They could use these to run feeder services for AY from second class Baltic airports (TAY, PLQ, KUN, EPU, LPX, VNT etc.) to HEL. If the Baltic economies pick up this might become reality, but in the current state I highly doubt that - considering how passenger figures are dropping even on the main capital airports of all the Baltic states and the Latvian state being virtually bankrupt and salaries being slashed in all countries etc.
I wonder when OV will start the long-time promised TAY-ARN.

I still think TAY is a good place to start. There are 1000+ finnish students in the University there. There are 3 big IT companies who do a fair share of travelling. Add some expats that want to go home - and voila - you have a business case.

There are also few (government) institutions. Of course this travelling seems to be at reduced state now. Plus one needs to offer normal flight times.

From yesterday's newspapers I read that TAY is currently not yet ready to take in international flights. I understood that even some landing, weather instruments are not yet fully installed and pax terminal may not comply with all the security rules. That's why OV and maybe even AY have remained quiet.
BT by the way started to sell tickets without informing TAY authorities about the plan to fly, schedule. To "test" the interest. Some say, it is not one of the best practices.

Would be interesting to see. I've got a booked and confirmed flight for my wife to TAY with Air Baltic for 3rd of July :)
