Las Vegas - MGM Grand parking?View Full Version : MGM Grand parking? AA Novice May 28, 09, 10:59 am We are staying for a few days and just wondered if there is a fee to park? Thanks! NerveEnding May 28, 09, 1:09 pm No fee--pretty much all the parking at the strip casinos is free. mbstone May 28, 09, 1:53 pm MGM has a free self parking garage, but it is a distant (several hundred yards) walk from the hotel entrance. Sane people use the free valet parking. When you check in, tell the valet your last name. He will give you a valet ticket and call the bellhop for you. (As the valet ticket says, Don't Lose This Ticket.) The bellhop will arrive with a luggage cart. Tip the bellhop $5 (or $1/bag whichever is greater). He will give you a baggage receipt. When you get to your room, call the bell desk and a different bellhop will deliver your bags. Tip this bellhop another $5. When you need to drive somewhere, turn in your valet ticket at the valet desk, you will be given the bottom half of the ticket. Give this receipt and a $1 tip to the valet. When you return, give your last name to the valet and you will be given another valet ticket. When checking out, call the bell desk and have a bellhop sent up, you will be doing the same thing in reverse. Tip him $5, then go downstairs and give both the valet and baggage tickets to the valet desk. Your car and bags will appear, give the bellhop $5 and the valet $1. You're on your way! icurhere2 May 28, 09, 1:59 pm Sounds like the recommended tips to the valets exceed the room rates MGM's currently charging ;) lrickets Jun 1, 09, 9:24 am Sounds like the recommended tips to the valets exceed the room rates MGM's currently charging ;)not only that, it takes 4ever to get your car. and by the time you're paying all that tips, it'll cost more than renting the car itself. selfparking is much faster and gives you a little of a workout if you need it. :D MisterNice Jun 1, 09, 9:45 am Self parking is too much of a hike at any strip casino so use valet parking. Tip $1 in and $1 out each time unless you are overloaded with guilt or recently won a nice big state lottery. In that case tip $100 in and $100 out. MisterNice Oxb Jun 1, 09, 9:45 am ....... selfparking is much faster and gives you a little of a workout if you need it. :D Well, it is not faster if you forget where you parked the car. :o lrickets Jun 1, 09, 9:50 am Well, it is not faster if you forget where you parked the car. :ogetting old aren't we? :p:D Oxb Jun 1, 09, 4:46 pm getting old aren't we? :p:D Huh? What? ;) mbstone Jun 2, 09, 1:51 am Self parking is too much of a hike at any strip casino so use valet parking. Agreed. You'll need all your energy for other things. Only the following strip casinos have convenient self parking: Palms, Bellagio, Wynn, Palazzo. Tip $1 in and $1 out each time unless you are overloaded with guilt or recently won a nice big state lottery. In that case tip $100 in and $100 out. $2 out only will make a better impression for the same price. MisterNice Jun 2, 09, 7:50 am Agreed. You'll need all your energy for other things. The Paris also has convenient indoor self parking. MisterNice mbstone Jun 2, 09, 1:34 pm My list is outdated thus many thanks. The Paris also has convenient indoor self parking. MisterNice No, the Paris has one of the less convenient self parking lots requiring a walk of maybe 200 yards (1/10 mile) to get to the casino. It is joined in this category by NYNY, Luxor, MGM, Mirage, TI and Venetian (which is more on the order of tens of yards). By "convenient" I mean 0-20 yards. My SO can't walk hundreds of yards. Compared to PH, parking at Paris is VERY convenient. mbstone Jun 2, 09, 6:41 pm Compared to PH, parking at Paris is VERY convenient.PH self parking is the worst in town, 1/2 mile away or as they in the San Fernando Valley, in ******** Egypt. If you absolutely hate valets and you are going to PH, park at the Bellagio and walk past the fountain and across the street. Yikes but I can do 200 yd as of yesterday. I usually park in the indoors PH selfparking lot near the convention areas and use the escalator. Is this the only one. MisterNice |
