Has anyone flown SAA Domestic Business Class recently? We are booked JNB-CPT-JNB, and I wanted to know if they still serve a meal, drinks, etc.?
What is their service like?

Other Middle East and Africa Frequent Flyer Programs - SAA Domestic JView Full Version : SAA Domestic J roadwarriorafrica May 28, 09, 6:16 am Has anyone flown SAA Domestic Business Class recently? Mostly on 737-800s and some A319s. Food and drink is served - JNB-CPT is around 2 hour flight. globalflight May 29, 09, 11:20 am The definition of meal times on SAA has been reduced, basically you only get a proper meal if the flight leaves between 12-1:30 and 5-7pm. Otherwise they give you a vile heated sandwich. Make sure you get on the two side of the aircraft as being in a middle seat in Business Class is decidedly un-Business Class like. Given a choice I would take BA as they offer a much better product on the JNB-CPT route from start to finish. Also if you have a problem they are more proactive at solving it than the indifference you will be met with at SAA. Cheetah_SA Jun 1, 09, 1:39 am At the end of March I flew the 11h50 from CPT to JNB and got a sandwich. Rather a yummy bacon and egg club (there was also a veggie option), but a sandwich it was. roadwarriorafrica Jun 1, 09, 9:46 am Thanks. I fly in from maun so need a connecting flight and then have an early connection from J'burg which means I can't take BA. Will let u know how it was:) roadwarriorafrica Jun 23, 09, 10:08 am I am back!! I agree with all the posts. It is a very poor J class. From JNB-CPT there was a vile sandwich, washed down with 1 bottle of cheap red. CPT-JNB was gross eggs, but good bacon and hash brown. There is no pre-departure drinks, no hot towel service, no headphones, and no service after they have served the meal (thou JNB-CPT the wine was kept topped up). Y passengers were allowed to use the J bathroom, and even put their children to sleep while standing in front of row 1. The lounges are mediocre with little food, and average drink selection. Service non-existent. I would not pay for SAA J Class again. Would take BA. |
