I am an OZ newbie and will be flying C SYD ICN LAX and back again in December. I have done some research but need to ask a few questions.

I have selected 3A and 4A for the SYD ICN SYD sectors. Are these good seats?. I really didn’t have much choice as these were the last window seats available. Now, will the FA ask me to lower my window shades the SYD ICN sector/? I an hoping it will be a clear day as I want to check out the amazing scenery on the flight up to ICN.

Am flying 202 and 204 ICN LAX ICN – I have selected 21A and 22K on the lower deck. Will there be a chance of OZ swapping to a Combi or a 777 at all with me losing my window seat? I am flying out of ICN on a Saturday and LAX back to ICN on a Monday

LAX ICN is the daylight flight but I am connecting to the SYD flight at ICN. Once again, will I be asked to lower the window shades as I want to stay awake for the LAX ICN leg and sleep on the ICN SYD sector?

I understand amenity kits are only given out ex ICN. Is that still the case?

I usually fly Air New Zealand but the OZ C fare was $850 cheaper. It will be interesting to compare the J product of both airlines.

Thanks

Out of interest - how much was the fare? and where did you get it from?

Yes, there will be a chance to swap to a combi, and hopefully it is not the old one, or even a 777. As from the statistics, it happened, but it is just too soon to tell, it is six months ahead.

For now it is, who knows what comes in December ? Maybe OZ is going to change their mind about that. The nice thing of the amenity kit is basically the Biotherm body lotion and lip balm, other than that, you get the other stuff from the bathroom.

Welcome to the OZ forum, MrSydney! 3A and 4A are normal seats. Nothing particular good or bad about them. There are more window seats available but OZ is just not releasing them at the moment (the other side of the aircraft is reserved for the QF code share for example).
Like on most Asian carriers, the FAs will usually ask you do lower your window shade. However, it is up to you whether you actually do so.
In terms of looking at scenery, the flight usually has some nice views in the beginning around Sydney and the Hawksbury River. The there is not much to see for a long time as you travel inland. But once you approach FNQ you normally have some amazing views of the Great Barrier Reef and Torrents Strait with Thursday Island and many others. You will also have some nice views of PNG. After that however, there is usually nothing in sight until you arrive in Korea, so you won't miss much when you close your window shade after PNG.

Yes, there is that chance.

Yes you will be asked. But whether you do it is up to you.
