Does anyone use Boingo wi-fi? I'm currently subscribing to the mobile version, anyone know if the mobile version would also work for laptop?

And does anyone know if now that wifi is going to be available for some flights, will it work as a monthly subscription or just a one time deal?

It will be very obvious to Boingo that you are accessing the service from a laptop, unless you are very familiar with changing the browser identification and some other settings. If you did use it from a laptop I would expect for it to be shut down very quickly, although you may be lucky. Definitely not recommended.

Currently most of the WiFi offerings on aircraft are pay-per-flight, ranging from $10-13.

Oh no, I only asked about Boingo because a lot of people seem to think that offering 2 subscriptions for the same service is absurd. Specially when you have an iPhone which can be used to access the normal internet instead of the mobile version.

There is only one Internet - just different pages that display better in some browsers than others. Yes, the iPhone browser can happily display pages that aren't "optimized" for mobile devices, as can several other phone browsers. The point is though, the browser will still identify itself as iPhone/Safari, etc. This type of information, along with the MAC address of the device itself, become a way for Boingo to identify whether you are accessing the service from a mobile device or a PC. The actual web pages you're visiting are irrelevant.

Delta has just announced that there will be a monthly subscription available for the GoGo service. It would make sense then that this is valid across all airlines using the GoGo srvice.
BTW, in addition to the $10-13 (depending of flight duration) for laptops, you can also pay only$8 if you access the in flight WiFi from a PDA/Smartphone (e.g. iPhone).
