First of all, it is a very old hotel and it seems to me that it is privately run by some family that only wanted to have the brand name.

The rooms are rather small and the interior has some strange colours. However, in this part of the world and especially this country it is believed to be baeutiful.

Equipment in the room is nice and modernm but in general not what you would expect from IC.

The Club Lounge is a joke and you are better of to go to the restaurant or anywhere else outside the hotel.

Given the circumstances of this hotel it is okay. But this facility in let's say Dubai would have no customers.

I will be staying at the IC in Jeddah in a couple of days. My host is insisting in paying for the room directly via his corporate account there. Will that affect my stay points or should I convince my host to let me pay directly and bill him?

It will definitely affect your points, as you will get none.

I have the same problem in all ME countries. My agents want to make a reservation through their agency (and get their commission) and therefore make a reservation with their room rates, etc. However, these special pricings will not get you any points.
Therefore I always book myself and tell my agents that I have to do it through our corporate travel agency.

I never have a problem getting points when my host pays. I would guess it depends entirely on what they pay and if it is a qualifying rate. But the fact that they are paying has no bearing as long as its your PC number on record.
