Let me ask some of questionable for your info with Windows 7 will be releases sometimes in 2010, am I correct? I am not sure when I able to use it with my PC. Maybe I will rather buy new laptop for my own with brand new Windows 7 will be ready to be installed. I haven't hear anything more specific news from Microsoft lately. Let me know if you have any more questionability for your concerns. Thanks all.

It may be released well before then. The release candidate became available for me to download on the 21st, so barring any show stoppers, it will be ready in a month or two.

A 32 bit or 64 bit Windows 7 RC free download is available here. (www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/download.aspx) The latest M$ hype is it will retail 4Q 2009 I believe.

Microsoft has publicly stated that Windows 7 PC's should be shipping in time for the holidays.

It is always available to Partners long before generally available, as soon as it 'goes gold' RTM

Yes I know, but there's no chance it will RTM within 1 -2 months of RC.
RTM'ing within a month of RC1 would give them maybe 2 weeks of real world telemetry data, bugs, & HW/SW compatibility issues to analyze, and then another 2 weeks to implement and test the fixes. Not only is that unrealistic, it's actually irresponsible given what is at stake for Microsoft.
Consider Microsoft's comment to have Win7 shipping by the holidays and work backwards from there: Say it ships around Thanksgiving, that means that it would need to RTM around early September, which would give them 4 months from RC1 to RTM to gather telemetry data/bugs/compat issues, and implement and test fixes. That timeline seems about right based on Microsoft's history of how long they've kept previous operating systems and major applications like Office in RC state before RTM'ing.
Plus, there is absoutely no benefit from attempting a more aggressive timeline. There is too much at stake. I can't think of any previous OS that they've RTM'd within 1-2 months of RC1, and there's no reason for them to do so now. Vista RTM'd on Nov 6 2006, and if my memory is correct I think RC1 was published in late May 2006 (although to be honest I can't remember if it was beta 3 or RC1 that dropped in May. It may have been beta 3, and RC1 may have dropped in July. My memory is rusty)

Somewhere I have a box full of NT betas, RC's, etc, from around 1996/1997. IIRC the were shipping me new versions every 3 or 4 weeks, the bug squashing team was stomping on insects pretty steadily. But it's become bigger and more complex with each new version of Windows.
That was back in the days when I had regedit in my startup group :D

Microsoft Corp said on Tuesday its new Windows 7 operating system will be generally available on October 22, well ahead of its original schedule and in time for the holiday shopping season. The new operating system, which will replace the unpopular Vista, was originally planned for roll-out at the beginning of next year, but Microsoft confirmed last month that it would hit the market in time for the year's busiest buying period..........story (http://www.nytimes.com/reuters/2009/06/02/technology/tech-us-microsoft.html?ref=technology)

yes windows 7 had a netbook centric test as well.
As for other info, it is nice being right:
Microsoft doesn’t have an RTM date to share yet, but Brandon Leblanc, Windows Communications Manager, wrote in a blog, “Obviously, Release To Manufacturing (RTM) is an important milestone on the path to GA. We anticipate that we’ll be able to make the RTM code for Windows 7 available to our partners sometime in the 2nd half of July. We also expect to be able to make RTM code for Windows Server 2008 R2 available to our partners in this time frame as well.

BF's been using Windows 7 RC on this quad core 8 gb ram previously Vista box for almost a month now. Everything works just fine except his wireless scale that uses AdobeAir. He bought the scale after upgrading so we don't know what the issue is. He just uses the scale with his macbook instead and still has occasional problems.
Best thing about the upgrade was that it didn't wipe out all his applications like a normal OS upgrade does.
The only thing special about it is anchoring to taskbar (like OSX) and it makes it easy to see 2 windows side-by-side. I don't do that very often.
I keep my Vista in classic mode so I don't get to take advantage of the features such as just typing anything in the start thing to pull up files or applications even better than a typical RUN command.
There are a few new Windows key functions, but not enough people use the current ones (like Windows L to lock, Windows R to run, etc).

Hardly a surprise as Win7 is just the real Vista release (all the content that couldn't be finished in time in the original vista development). If MS had any integrity they would ship win7 as a service pack, but revenue wins over integrity any day. Sure it is some new content, but all of it was supposed to be in the original vista product.

Steph3n, if you're referring to the dialogue that you and I had, please note that I said "there is no chance it will RTM within 1 - 2 months of RC". It RC'd on 4/30 so if it RTM's in the second half of July, then that makes it 3 months between RC and RTM.
To be fair, I was not clear about this in my first post, which is why I clarified myself in my second post.
That said I'm still surprised about the timeline. I had heard some internal rumors that it could RTM as early as August but certainly did not expect July. I'll take it though. :)

I tend to always go with Mary-Jo...
Microsoft officials are finally admitting what many company watchers, customers and partners have known for a while: Windows 7 is going to ship in 2009. (http://blogs.zdnet.com/microsoft/?p=2727)
And...
Microsoft officials may not be ready to share the date of the Vista-to-Windows 7 upgrade program they preannounced this week. But Best Buy is. A Best Buy memo obtained by Engadget has the details of the program, as well as the start date. As the tech enthusiast site TechARP reported earlier this year, the program will kick off on June 26.
Customers who buy Vista PCs between June 26 and the Windows 7 launch day (October 22) will get a free upgrade copy of Windows 7, according to the memo. (http://blogs.zdnet.com/microsoft/?p=2985)

In place upgrade from beta code is technically not supported, although it can be done.
Having said that, I would not personally recommend upgrading beta code.
Downloading it now...
How are you doing that, legally?

The supposed RTM build has been on torrent sites for a few weeks, though I am not sure how well it works once the pre-activation period has elapsed, or what people are even doing now to get around the activation obstacle.
On a different note, does anyone know what the official stance is on upgrading from Vista to Win 7 as far as needing to do a clean install, etc.? I really hope I don't need to wipe everything.
