Again, it seems that only the Italian version of the website reports good news!
AZ has launched Millemiglia Kids (http://www.alitalia.com/IT_IT/millemiglia/offers/family/index.htm), so parents can earn miles for their little FF children 2-to-14 years old.
Some rules:
a) you can earn miles on flights AZ, XM, VE operated & coded;
b) 1 adult > several children;
c) changing the adult<> children relationship will cost 5000 miles or 55 euros;
d) up to 100% miles (so, no bonuses)
e) no earning for A, G, R classes
f) 'children' miles are not EQMs
g) registration required

I do not find this offer particularly interesting to be honest.
I guess it all depends on how often your kid flies. If it's only a few times a year it might be OK to accumulate some extra non-qualifying miles on a parent's account.
If on the other hand (s)he flies a lot, it makes much more sense to register your kid with another FFP. Most of them allow kids in from 2 years old. I guess minimum age of 14 with MM is because of some Italian legal requirement. (The same law also prohibits fidelity programmes to last longer than 5 years - hence the 'new' MM programme from 2008).

So I registered my son when he was 3. He's now 8 years old, Gold with OK+ and Senator with M&M and he seems quite happy with it. Typical question he asks: dad, when will I get the black card OK+ card. Haha, gotta love 'em.
