Does anybody here know of any future plans to change the livery of alitalia aircraft (i think it's about time, the current livery looks terrible and is very off putting)

Last night for the first time in years I saw an AZ ad (around 30 seconds) on prime time TV (canale 5) Concentrated on famous figures that have flown with AZ but I thought it was a fairly clever ad I reckon they will pour money into restoring the image (and while they are at it maybe at improving their J product);) Alice11 May 24, 09, 5:12 am Does anybody here know of any future plans to change the livery of alitalia aircraft (i think it's about time, the current livery looks terrible and is very off putting) Actually AZ has started changing livery some months ago. The new livery is this one (http://www.airliners.net/photo/Alitalia/Airbus-A320-216/1522746/L/). Or this one (http://www.airliners.net/photo/Alitalia/Airbus-A321-112/1521449/M/), better view This (http://www.airliners.net/photo/Alitalia/Airbus-A320-214/1525587/M/) is the old version. Yes, I know, they're quite similar. I don't think they will repaint very soon these planes again. Anyway, It would be great if they will use some special liveries on other planes.. AZ had some great special liveries in the past, like the Bulgari (http://www.airliners.net/photo/Alitalia/Boeing-747-243B/0118684/M/) or Bacio Perugina (http://www.airliners.net/photo/Alitalia/Boeing-747-243BM/1403924/L/&sid=5e6284c2393482257579b2c3834476bc) ones, but just look at the special liveries of Etihad (http://www.airliners.net/photo/Etihad-Airways/Airbus-A340-642/1512041/M/) or Qantas (http://www.airliners.net/photo/Qantas/Boeing-747-438-ER/1450662/M/), they're stunning! It's hard to find a sponsor for them right now, but AZ could have some special non-commercial livery,eg about Italian famous places or building, or recalling events or whatever. TravellinHusker May 24, 09, 5:27 am Well, lately on intra-Italy flights, even with only an AP flight number, and no AZ flight number at all, the plane is actually an AZ MD80. Green, white and red. Not a single Blue/Yellow/White plane to be seen. Not sure what is up with that, but on Friday at VCE, 2 AP flights to FCO boarded on planes owned and operated by AZ. I would love to see some special livery planes like a Leaning Tower of Pisa painted on a tail.. Perhaps a flying pizza margherita.. a gondola painted the entire length of the aircraft.. perhaps a Gladiator/Coliseum motif.. I would be happy with most things, but please, please, please spare us Silvio's big, fat, ugly head with fake hairplugs or Vasco Rossi or Gerry Scotti or Platinette. The last thing I need to see streaming down the runway taking off into the sky is an overweight, overly dramatic drag queen wearing hot pink in a platinum blonde wig. I remember a MD 80 used whithin Italy with the Mc Donalds logo and fully in red but I did not have photos!! We did not get any BigMc but a coke and some snacks!! Kinda neat to see the classic A symbol in the back in Gold and Red. What are the chances we'll see CAI decide to sell advertising on AZ planes again? Just thinking about what Italian companies would be willing to pay to be on the side of an AZ plane. Ideas? Alice11 May 24, 09, 8:00 am Wow. That's a cool looking McD's plane. I like it! Kinda neat to see the classic A symbol in the back in Gold and Red. What are the chances we'll see CAI decide to sell advertising on AZ planes again? Just thinking about what Italian companies would be willing to pay to be on the side of an AZ plane. Ideas? Well, the AZ investors - nope, not the tax-payers, I meant to say the formal investors :D - represent a lot of groups or companies. They could easily do something like that. But I think several other companies don't want to link their beloved brands to such a tricky company, at least for a while, a long while. You can link Ferrari and Etihad. Can a top brand like that or a long-established brand be linked to AZ now? Uhm... A non-commercial livery would be more feasible. A flying gondola or a Colosseum-style livery would be something cool for global operations, eg for the 777s. They could do something more targeted for planes used on specific routes, likely the FCO-LIN right now, or on certain seasons, eg a summer&sicily/sardinia/costiera livery or a winter&alps livery. Even if not linked to a business, they can even get sponsored by national or local tourism boards like Enit or APT Roma. Thsi way, they can save money for a plane repainting. I'm more surprised than the smaller airlines in Italy don't do that. They would gain cash and recognition. BV, I9, IV, IG wake up!! terminalfive May 24, 09, 2:58 pm Well, the AZ investors - nope, not the tax-payers, I meant to say the formal investors :D - represent a lot of groups or companies. Mmm - AZ will be part of that list of "smaller" airlines soon The CEO of Alitalia is Colannino who is head of PIAGGIO.. We could have scooters painted??;) Alice11 May 26, 09, 1:20 pm AZ Skyteam livery: http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=6572903&nseq=3 MikeyZBT May 26, 09, 1:26 pm AZ Skyteam livery: http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=6572903&nseq=3 Nothing like a freshly painted jet. Yes, I know, they're quite similar. That livery predated the new Alitalia by a long time, it just that there weren't many that were painted in the new scheme and like you say they were very similar. I've not flown Alitalia at all this year but they definitely used to show a clip of them repainting the aircraft on the TV's on the A321's. The font used in the Alitalia logo was changed to italic a number of years ago. TWA Forever May 26, 09, 7:10 pm The old and new are so similar but the old looks better, particularly the tail. The green is too close to leading edge. The logo is not so bad, I think. It's a little in the 70's style, like the red TWA (before the blue, gold stripe, and red). Even worse is the late 60's/early 70's style used in American Airlines. Too gaudy, I think. Continental and Northwest has the best of the big American carriers. Alaska isn't bad. US Airways is too busy but AA is the worst of the big ones. Air Tran is one of the worst of the small ones. browserden May 26, 09, 7:28 pm Continental and Northwest has the best of the big American carriers. Alaska isn't bad.
