Hi folks-

I'm not generally one of those folks who demands compensation for every little thing- but I'm currently at the fairmont Scottsdale in a casita with no a/c. Maintenance says they can't fix it until the am, front desk offered fans and maybe another room if housekeeping can clean it. As it's now after 10 pm and fortunately it's not sweltering (just uncomfortable), and I'm unpacked, I'm just going to stay put. While I understand they have offered a possible change of rooms and I'm voluntarily staying put, I still feel pretty inconvenienced and think a discount on the rate should be appropriate. Am I being unreasonable?

I don't know about being unreasonable, but they did offer to change rooms and you turned it down. I understand the inconvenience factor, though. Guess they could maybe comp you bfast or something....

You might get a small token but I would rather have functioning A/C in Arizona than a discount...I know how you feel about being unpacked in conjunction with a late arrival but obviously you're not inconvenienced enough by the temperature... I would be changing rooms in a second.

Me too. I would be changing rooms. I know you are unpacked, but a VERY reasonable request would be to ask the hotel to move all of your stuff into the other room for you, so there is little to no inconvenience.

Thanks for the replies- I really just didn't want to deal with moving all my stuff - and while it was somewhat uncomfortable, it wasn't crazy Arizona hot last night. I imagine some people would have thought it was ok but I'm usually one of those people who likes it really cold when sleeping. In any case, they ended up comping me breakfast, which I thought was fair, since they were very nice and apologetic about it, and seemed flexible about everything except for the rate, since it was prepaid. Overall I'm pretty satisfied with the response.
