Hi all,

This is my first stay in the Carlson group of hotels, previously l have been with IHG hotels, done 66 paid nights with them this year plus another dozen or so reward nights.

So far l have been really impressed with this hotel. According to tripadvisor.co.uk the rooms have been recently renovated and my ground floor room certain seems nice and new. King size bed, flat screen tv, nice size bath with built in shower and a good selections of shampoo's and stuff.

Only little niggle is that the corridor is quite dimly lit and the room was very dark and l couldn't see where to stick my card to activate the lights. Also when leaving the room the lights immediately turn off and was a bit of a fumble finding the door handle to get out. There is a little switch on the outside of the door which toggles between Do Not Disturb and clean room.

I am just supping a beer in the Polo bar and which is fairly relaxed with friendly staff. Might have another one before nipping into the brassiere restuaraunt. There is also a second restaurant called Henley's, both seem to have quite a good menu, will comment on the Brassiere food in the morning.

Free wi-fi throughout the hotel, took me a little time to get my laptop working with it, but l think this is due to my Dell being a bit temperamental.

So far l really like the feel of this place and it certainly seems a big step up from the Crowne Plaza Heathrow which has been my haunt for the last few months.

So far the only thing l am missing from the Crowne Plaza is the Club Lounge, not sure if this is something that is available in Radisson hotel's, but will enquire in the morning when l checkout.

Big thumbs up so far and will post a follow up review in the morning after l check out.

THE FOLLOWING MORNING

Dinner in the brassiere was ok, the main course l had was perfectly acceptable, as l was travelling on my own l was in and out within about 25 min. The waiting staff were very pleasant and attentive. Although there was probably only 10 people in the restaurant at most.

There was a little bit of noise seeping through the door whilst l was relaxing in my room after dinner. Some kids running up and down no doubt and banging of doors, etc. Nothing that kept me from a a sound sleep and certainly no airport noise.

The TV has a limited set of channels the normal BBC1, 2, ITV1, C4 & C5, plus a couple of news channels and a half a dozen or so foreign channels. Didn't seem to be any film or other PPV services.

The shower in the morning was nice and refreshing with no temperature fluctuations.

I didn't do breakfast, but on my way past it looked like there was a good variety of choice and seemed to be buffet style.

Where the hotel is located there are a number of other hotels nearby so if you are a business traveller there is always somewhere else to hang out. There is also a McDonalds a few mins walk away.

Also a few mins walk away are the local bus stops and there seems to be a lot of variety, l used one of them Saturday morning to take me into Uxbridge. There are also the usual hotel hoppa buses to the Heathrow airport that leave from outside the hotel.

All in all a very positive experience and l would certainly stay here again.

Have just checked into this hotel again and although l have booked the same type of room. I was given one of the non-renovated rooms.

What a disappointment compared to the previous room. The room l was given this time had stains on the carpet and the A/C temperature control was broken. Rang down to reception to get moved, hoping for a better room, but was given the same type of non-renovated room.

Also the Polo bar is under renovation, perhaps this is coinciding with the local McDonalds re-imaging (argh marketing speak) as well, but there is a cocktail bar opposite reception that l will check out later.

The decor of the room is very traditional, lots of wood period furniture and patterned wallpaper.

Small CRT telly, with a menu system that seems overly complicated.
