Australia, New Zealand & the South Pacific - Any suggestions for a good cheap hotel near BNE?

I am flying into BNE for a few days from the US. I want to use BNE (aiport area) as a jumping off point to do some day trips on Virgin Blue (i.e. Brisbane -> Proserpine or Rockhampton,etc.)

Are there any good, cheap (less than $100) hotels/motels near BNE with good access to the airport/train, etc.

All I can see with Expedia are pricey places in the CBD.

Airport to city has direct access by the Air Train (http://www.airtrain.com.au/)

Is your $100 Au$100 or US$100 ?
Booking direct with hotels can at times be cheaper than wotif.com.au

A few weeks ago in other post some one mentioned F1 hotel (http://www.accorhotels.com.au/3512) Very basic if that fits your style

I would recommend the Portal Hotel, either in Spring Hill or the actual CBD-I'm not sure where the boundary line is drawn. I stayed a couple of nights in February, not long after they opened. It was $99 /night for a reasonably sized room, large bathroom and all the regular room features. Great as a new place. And it is only about two blocks from Central station.

Not too far from the airport - Virginia Palms @ Sandgate - decent enough.
