I am not sure where is the best forum to post this one.

I am very curious about "Which airline programs allow one-way award ticket with 50% miles of the round trip award ticket?"

Korean airline allows one-way award ticket for KE flight only.
I believe Asiana does the same thing for OZ flight only.

AA started one-way award ticket (it looks like it is good for all flight in Oneworld airlines)

Do you know any other airlines which allow one-way award ticket with 50% miles of the roundtrip?

This will likely get moved to the MilesBuzz forum, but British Midland (bmi) also allows one-way awards.

AA does, but one big disadvantage (for me) is the elimination of a free international stopover.

Yes, this does seem a question best asked in MilesBuzz!

As such, I'll move it there.

KLM used to.

Probably taken away by AirFrance like they ruined the rest of the program.

British Airways.

This important question feels like it belongs in a wiki or a sticky thread or something

for both jb and swa
you must first have enough points for a roundtrip award
then at redemption you will get 2 one way awards, that can be booked separately

Both AF and KLM allow one way award tickets as part of the Flying Blue programme... I know because I've just booked 2 - one on KLM and one on AF:)

i was using the SQ award calculator and it does not allow for a one way award on star alliance partners only on their metal

is this a bug or do they not do one way awards on star?

Virgin Atlantic allows one-way FF tickets. You can also use BA miles to book one-way flights on Cathay Pacific (not sure if you can do this with Asia Miles)

One other "string" (beyond first needing enough credits for a regular R/T award) is that I'm not sure if you can do a one-way "freedom" award with 16 credits. I looked into doing it last year but could not figure out how to do it - the only option was to use 2 full regular awards to create one full freedom award - I'm guessing that you could then use that as two one-ways.

One other oddity is that WN has some rather unusual blackout dates that apply to their freedom awards...but not to their regular awards. (Almost the reverse situation of the legacies.) Not really a personal complaint: I just booked 5 people on the same itin, all one-way regular awards, on March 21, 2010. That date isn't anywhere near any American holiday, flights are cheap, but a freedom award would be blacked out. It's a good use of awards for us simply because it's a West Coast trip with no promo fares.

Also: YX charges a slight premium for a one-way...I think it's 15k (vs. 12.5k).

UA used to offer one-ways to 1K's but I don't believe they do anymore.

Yes, CX does & you may take other airline (choose any one world member).
But miles required is not 50% of return flight award ticket
Below are the examples. You may have a consider.

flying miles / one-way / return
(S) 0- 600miles / 10K / 15K
(A) 601-1200 / 15K / 20K
(B) 1201-2500 / 20K / 30K
(C) 2501-5000 / 25K / 45K
(D) 5001-7500 / 40K / 60K
(E) 7501-10K / 55K / 90K
(F) 10001- / 70K / 110K

May not seem very attractive anyway ?

AA not only let you book one way award, they also let you book one service award one way and another returning ... such as booking business award going and F award returning.

BMI allows one-way (50% of round-trip mileage required)
Cathay Pacific allows one-way ( but 75% of round-trip mileage required )

It's smack in the middle of Spring Break.

With the introduction of True Blue 2 (http://www.wanderingaramean.com/2009/11/trueblue-2-is-alive.html) jetBlue no longer has any strings on one-way redemptions. It is just a regular option out there now.
