I have a J ticket on hold for travel to HKG on March 17th, 2010. On Seat Guru and Seat Expert, it shows this aircraft having the old J configuration. I called CX at LAX and they told me this aircraft had the new J configuration. While I don't believe they would provide me with inaccurate information at CX, can anyone confirm this route has the new J. I'm on the same aircraft on the return from HKG. Flight numbers are 881/880. Thank you, Matt

I called my friend who regularly flies from LAX-HKG-LAX and he says so far he's seem nothing but new J on 773 flights, and yes he's a rich son of B that flies J all the time.

The answer to your question and more info can be found at the CX FAQ (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/cathay-pacific-asia-miles/919353-cx-faq-complete-cx-experience.html)

But yes, as mentioned, flights to and from LAX features the new J product

the 773 seat map you are looking at is the regional 777-300, which do not have the range to fly LAX-HKG, which is served by a 777-300ER(77A)

MJZ,

Coincidentally, I'll be flying J HKG to LAX on March 17th on a 773. I also called and was told it's the new J.

Thanks!

I've got miles to burn. Hopefully F will open up between now and then. If not, J looks pretty nice....

This the same problem too,im flying HKG-YVR-HKG CX888/839.
They wrote on CX website its (773) but i am very sure it will be a 777-300ER unless some unexpected last minute changes.
CX 839 is a 34D/34C and i hope they will change to 77A too :)

The chances of 888 being changed into another product is highly unlikely. The same goes for 839

I'm hoping for F to open up as well in my direction. There's still plenty of time. In everyone's experience does F ever open up for awards close to flight date? Thanks.

I'm trying to figure out whether a flight I'm looking to book (YYZ-HKG, CX829) is served by a 773 or a 773ER (77A). The CX website shows '773'.

Isn't the best way to tell whether the flight is served by a 773 or a 77A by seeing whether there are FC seats on the plane?

If there's FC = 77A
No FC? 773.

Thanks,
Bostonbali

Yes, that would be a valid way of checking. The other is knowing that the 773 (J-only) does not fly intercontinental; only regional.

CX does not do CX 829 anymore. It's now CX 826 to YYZ and CX 827 to HKG, all operated by the new 77A. You're guaranteed to have F seats as all 77As are fitted with new F seats. I haven't heard of any news regarding the return of CX829. More info on how you found the flight?
