MilesBuzz! - How much recline in domestic C/F (BOS-SFO)?

I mostly fly TATL or short haul US (under 3 hrs, so Y is just fine.) As a result, I don’t have a clear sense of the seat quality in domestic C/F. Specifically, I am looking for more information regarding seat recline on direct BOS-SFO flights. Does it come anywhere near the lie-flat seats you can get in international C?

Due to a back injury, sitting upright for more than 45-90mn at a stretch can become extremely painful. On my last TATL, when the injury was recent, I bought an upgrade to C on the way out and was able to block off 3 seats in Y for the return. The pain is no longer as acute and I don’t need to spend the whole flight lying down.

Obviously, I plan on getting an aisle seat so that I can get up frequently. (Sadly, due to the injury, I can no longer legitimately ask for an exit row seat.) What I’m trying to figure out is how much additional recline I might get sitting in C or F (or even in E+.) If I could be even in a semi-lying down position, it would make the trip more comfortable and make the extra cost worth it. If not, Y will be fine and I’ll just walk around the cabin.

Any feedback or suggestions that you might have would be great. Thanks for your help!

Welcome to FT!

Your best resource for seat information is seatguru.com. Click "comparison charts" under the alphabetical list of airlines, then "Domestic first" in the menu that shows up. Unfortunately, they don't give recline angles, but don't expect anything remotely like international First or even international Business.

Some airline sites may have information about their own seats, but I wouldn't hold out too much hope for that.

If you have specific questions about a particular airline, a post in that airline's forum here is the best way to get answers. It's OK to ask the same question in multiple airline forums since each question would be specific to that airline.

The TravelBuzz forum is probably the best place to ask general questions like this, which aren't about frequent flyer miles/points, in the future.

If you can get an AA AFS flight, route on UA through IAD on a 3-cabin widebody, or take VX, all of those should provide exactly what you're looking for.

Not even close. Domestic F gets you maybe an extra 2-4" or recline over Coach.
