So if I fly J from NYC to HKG, which is 20,000 miles already (125% of actual miles flown), and triple that is 60,000 miles, and I'll fly it twice within that promo period for work, is that it, is that it? Please tell me that's it!

Nope - it's triple AsiaMiles, not triple Club Miles. It makes no difference to status.

and even if it was club miles (which it isn't), you'd only be able to qualify for diamond with 120,000 miles if you were already GO, since you can't jump tiers...

Diamond is not what it used to be, anyway. Don't get your hopes up.

I requalified last year, but havn't flown CX since. I've gone back to Qantas who are still improving, even in these difficult times - and yes, I'm already Platinum with them, too.

They have the same offer for AAdvantage members as well...

Yeah, miles for upgrading is fine. But I was looking forward to getting a couple of Business Class tickets as a short-cut to DM (I know an agent that gets them dirt cheap), oh well.
