My auto policy is due with Farmers insurance and was wondering if there is a way to pay it using a credit card. My agent accepts only checks. Any tips?

You might consider getting a quote from another insurance carrier. From personal experience, I know that Esurance, Progressive and USAA accept credit cards for premium payments.

State Farm takes Visa and MC via their web site.

I was with SF when I changed to Farmers about 6 months back and I used to pay using Visa but now no luck.

Every 6 months when I go in pay my auto insurance I alway ask them; do you accept credit cards, when they reply no, I then ask if they have any plans in the future to accept them. My thought is, if we kept asking maybe they will change.
