This doesn't earn miles, does it?

aaron1262
May 17, 09, 11:30 pm
actually this could possibly earn miles since for the VS itineraries it will be booked in N class and AA is in O class.

Other things to note
N class on VS earns miles on US air dividend program- 50% though

im curious as to how much of the N or O inventory will be available for this deal because i can see plenty of N availability on these flights between now and june 15. ( i have my sources)

On a separate note, does the statravel.com work? I have been on that site numerous times over the past few months and it only accepts very specific cities when trying to look for flights. Im not sure if its a java problem or what but it simply won't let me input many different cities.

I don't normally jump on airfare deals, but this one seems pretty good. Not 100% sure it would work for a MR, but it's definitely good for a cheap trip.

http://www.statravel.com/cps/rde/xchg/us_division_web_live/hs.xsl/london-paris-flight-sale.htm

$30 r/t, all taxes and fees included. Read the fine print on the page for further details.

Must have valid ISIC card (or purchase one for $20)

Some flights are Virgin and book into N for 50% earnings (don't see any fine print to suggest otherwise...). AA flights book into O for 100% earnings (though I'm not sure if the fine print on the AA website regarding 'special fares' counts this one out...)

Purchase by May 29, travel by June 15.

You have to call or go to one of their stores. Probably so they can try to sell you other stuff.

where you able to get a ticket?

I'm already in Europe, staying until August, so I won't be able to take advantage of it...hence why I'm sharing and not keeping it all to myself

hah..time to go line up outside the store. Sounds more like winning a contest than booking a plane ticket. I knew it was too good to be true.

I didn't see it anywhere, one of the agents I spoke with at the main number shared this information with me. It's 10:06, all circuits are busy now and I'm sure all of these tickets are GONE.

Don't worry - even if there is a call-in ordering, most college students are conscientious enough to make the call on time. I was able to snag IIRC 1 of 20 BA tickets last spring break through them, and I called a little after the mentioned time...

I see nothing about "first 20" on that link, and one can go to an STA office (today only) for this.

However ... my problem is finding O availability on AA, from the East Coast to SEA on any Mon-Thu through the Jun 15th validity period. Doesn't seem like there's a single seat open. Boo.

One of the STA agents told me over the phone at 9:30 am the promotion was for the first 20 callers. STA covered themselves by saying "supplies limited" or whatever language they used. If they posted the tickets were only for the first 20 callers many of us might have just said WOT.

I'm glad she told me, because at 10:07 I figured this promo to be dead and went on with the rest of my day.

Sorry for posting such useless stuff. I had no idea that the "supplies were so limited". I'm new to FT, so I'm still learning about how all this works.

the promotion was for the first 20 callers

What about the hundreds of people in line at the store? =)

As a student traveler, I've never had much use for STA...never did like the way they did business and promoted the company. Guess some things don't change.

That or the employees are really in the dark. I figured 20 seats could very well cost anywhere from $600-$1,000, so that's a significant amount of money to just "give away".

Granted they buy seats in "bulk", but still.

Indeed there was a thread here in BT, so I've merged the two into one, leaving the FARE GONE title.

I miraculously got one of the $30 fares.... I called at 11:59am and got through without waiting on hold. I booked JFK-CDG leaving June 15 on AA. Total price: $35. The agent said they released 10 tickets thru the 800 number and 10 to be booked through their stores nationwide. I was caller 4. Too bad the fare doesn't earn miles, but I won't complain about $35 to Paris.
