Hi, I did a search but could not find the info.

I'm traveling this summer LHR-FCO on AZ. After searching several sights it seems that the aircraft is a A321. I can't find a seat map for this.
I will be connecting from a VS flight traveling in business class. AZ said they will not assign us seats in advance, even for business class passengers. Just wondering what to expect.
Checkmytrip.com does not give the ac type, just says it will be some sort of Airbus.
Also, will this be AZ metal or Air One?

Thanks

Az doesn't have any interline agreement with VS that's why the system will not allow you the through check from ur station. If the flight is going to be full or even overbooked alitalia vip service will precheck you and preassingn the seat you usually prefer on board. The configuration on the aircraft in C/class is two and two up to row 6/7 on an a321 usually it depends on the load factor. While in Y/class is three and three. Which FCO LHR flight are u on? beacuse usually the 19.50 pm flight is operated by AP aircraft then the config changes, and the delay chances are higher :)

Thanks for that info. We are on AZ 207 in August departing LHR @ 16:25. Tickets are booked via CO using miles in business class.
LAX-LHR VS
LHR-FCO AZ
The return is all on AF

We have 4 hours in LHR before our AZ flight to Rome. Since there is no interline agreement with AZ as you say, will VS check the bags all the way to FCO or do you suggest collecting them in LHR and rechecking in with AZ? Since we have so much time, I really don't mind re-checking the bag in with AZ if you think it will help.

VS can check your bags through to alitalia. At least Alitalia was able to check them through to Virgin Atlantic so i guess its possible the other way around too.

I suggest seats A / C as there the B is left empty. On the other side though there are 3 seats. Its 2-3 instead of 3-3

ok checking baggages all the way through doesn't depend on the ability of one company to do that, it only depends on the whole ticket. If your itinerary lax-lhr-fco is in the same tkt, that the company can do that. And i think it's in the same reservation because like you say you have a mileage tkt and usually it works like that. For istance you flew lax lhr with miles bonus and then you bought separatly lhr fco then the luggages had to be stopped in lhr because the tkt is not in "conjuction".

As for the suggestion, it depends on what you want to do in ur spare 4 transit hrs in lhr, keep in mind you have to change terminal from 4 or 5 to terminal 2 where az departs in lhr.you have time to recheck them but carry around 2 pieces of 23 kgs each (that's your allowance) maybe be a little unconfortable. It's up to you :)

exactly in c/class is 2-3 and in y/class is 3-3 except for the first abc line in y (row 4 or5) which is only ac

Not really. If both carriers have a ticket/baggage agreement then as long as you have proof (tkt receipt, online check in boarding pass, etc.) of the offline carrier ticket, then the original carrier can check the bag all the way through. On many occasions I have purchased separate tickets not in conjunction with the original carriers ticket and have had the bag checked all the way to the final destination. I just presented the offline e ticket receipt at the time of original check in. IE: CO SAN-EWR-MXP with miles, then I bought a separate ticket with Expedia on Austrian Air from MXP-VIE. No problem. CO just wanted to see the Expedia receipt, punched that info into the computer and the bag tag to VIE came out, no problems. Again, both carriers must have a ticket and baggage agreement for this to work.

I hold a business class ticket so baggage allowance will be a bit more generous.
AZ in Biz class is 30kg, economy is 20kg.
VS is 32kg Biz and 23 kg economy. I'll only have one checked piece, so no big deal, it has wheels. I'll let you know how it turns out.

well that sounds weird to me i work for az af and ke in fco as check in agent and none of these airlines allows you to send luggages through if the ticket is not the same. but anyways....business class allowance is 2 pieces of 32kgs for flight to and from usa because they have a particular kind of allowance called "piece concept" and again you can carry around europe and so on the same weight if you have the same reservation for all your itinerary.for domestic and european flights yes, the allowance is 30 kgs in c/class, 20 extra kgs if you're are elite plus and 10 extra kilos if you are elite(provided you have separate tkt). :)

Well, it may sound weird to you, but it is a very common practice. Many people purchase separate tickets for different reasons and as long as there is a ticket/baggage agreement between all carriers involved and a receipt and itinerary for the separate ticket is presented and the check-in agent knows the proper entry to generate the bag tag (some agents in the past have had to ask for help from a colleague) then the luggage can be checked in to the final destination. Perhaps you have "local" rules at your station that do not permit this, but the actual rule of the airlines you represent do permit this, as long as the above mentioned are followed.

Back to my seat assignment question, do I have to wait until I check in with VS in LAX to get my seat on AZ from LHR to FCO? Is there no way of securing a seat in advance? When I called AZ they said they do not assign inter-Europe flights in advance, only long-haul flights. I am on a Business Class CO miles award ticket LAX-LHR then AZ LHR-FCO all on one ticket. My return is AF all the way from FCO-CDG-LAX. No problem getting seats on all carriers except AZ. I am also gold elite with Skyteam if this helps in securing a seat in advance. If not possible, no big deal, but it would be nice to have it assigned prior to the day of travel.
