Buying a book, ticket to the game, and an angels T-shirt will be cheaper than a Transcon. If you're planning to fly anytime soon to any place outside of California, you might as well enjoy a ball game in order to get a free flight out of it. :D

Too bad I'm on the wrong end of the country for this deal.

It is good to see JetBlue doing marketing in very visuable ways.

Yes, it's for real: Jet Blue just signed a sponsorship agreement with the Angels. The partnership starts Wednesday at noon, when the first 346 fans to show up at Angel Stadium with a children's book AND dressed in Angels gear will receive a certificate for a free round-trip ticket on Jet Blue.

Why 346? According to this news release: "the total number of Angels hits through Sunday, May 17."

I live in Santa Ana, CA. Angels Stadium is not far from me at all (10 minute drive).

Anyhow, there is no game at Angels Stadium so this was just about the Promotion/Book Drive.

I first found out about it last night around 10PM PST. I right away made plans to be there at 5. I woke up at 4am to get ready but check an Angels Message board and was notified that it wouldn't be worth it to ge there anything before 6:30, as the gates to the Stadium property would not open till 7AM PST. I went back to sleep and woke up at 5:30. My Girlfriend, a friend of mine and I all got ready and made it out of the house by 6:00 and to the stadium at 6:20. No one was out side so we decided to hit McDonald and grab a quick breakfast. By the time we finished it was 6:50 we left McDonald's. Still the Parking lot had not been open so I just left my car at McDonalds and walked towards the Main Entrance to the Stadium, where they were doing the whole promotion.

I noticed, as we were walking towards a barricaded area that was obviously to be used for the line, a small group of people walking towards it. Must have turned 7 during out walk there. We ended up 3, 4, 5 in line. The line probably got no larger then 50 people the first 2 hours. At around 9:00 Jet blue employees showed up and set up camp. They passed out Terra Blue chips and Jet Blue Car Air Fresheners. Still the line only had around 150 people at 10am. Guess I could have gotten a few more hours of sleep. Security was really strict about letting people out of line, even to go to the restroom. Guess this was a great thing, so no one could hold places in line for friends or family that would just show up last minute. At 11:00 they passed out numbered wristbands. (No clue as to why this was not done earlier but I didn't care) I say around 11:40 the last person arrived. All other people were told they couldn't stand in line, but of course they still donated their books.

Local Papers (OC Register) and the Regional Sports network for the Angels (Fox Sports Net West/Prime Ticket) showed up and interviewed the first few people, I hid behind them since I was camera shy.

The handing out of tickets was to be at 12:00pm but was pushed up to 11:45am. Books were donated and flight vouchers were received.

The terms of the vouchers were they are only Valid for booking and flight between 5/20/2009-10/31/2009. In the end it was a great event and felt great giving to the community.
