Qatar Airways Privilege Club - 3-class A330 used on a 2-class route? Who gets the FC seats?

I am booked in Business Class on JNB-DOH with QR, this route does not offer First Class. However the seat map for my flight shows rows 1, 2, 3, 10, 11 and 12 for business class and I have managed to secure a seat in row 3. To me it looks like they are operating a 3-class aircraft on that flight (could be the A330-202, 238 seat configuration that QR shows on their website). Can I expect a FC seat in row 3?

In my experience they will do 1 of 3 things.

1. If the loads in Business are light they usually restrict everyone to the J-class seats and keep the F-class empty.

2. If loads in J are light and Y is overbooked then all the J pax are moved to F-class and J-class operates with Y-class service.

3. If loads in J class are high they allocate both the F and J class seats to J-class passengers with J-class service.

In your case it appears that they are going for option 3. Unless the check-in/gate agents do anything you should be flying on an F-class seat!

Or as was the case with my recent flight from BKK - DOH:

Option 4:

Tell everyone that the F cabin is empty, and then put the CEO of the airline up there all by himself.

I've been stuck in J with an F free of paying passengers before.

Filled instead with noisy crew/returning pilots.

Glad I hadn't paid for an F and had to put up with that cr@p.
