Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Affiliated Member in MPC Profile

Does anyone know if adding an Affiliated Member in your MPC profile has any effect on anything? Is the purpose of this data collection just for statistics or does it carry any impact for service received inflight or for op-ups?

I think one reason is so that husbands & wives can make and adjust bookings for each other. I haven't noticed any impact on in-flight service or op-ups.
