LH is pretty tempting for my North American flights. Munich and Charlotte are rather nice transfer hubs to my preferred destinations. And I could easily arrange a Finnish address if needed...;)

Any booking class qualifies and the status seems to be valid until February 2011. Such a nice offer that it seems that the M&M Flyertalkers are angry about the benefits given to Finnish residents.

All other bargains are also welcome. United flights in July and August are my next scheduled *A flights and I would like to have *G in my pocket then.

LH had the same offer going for Italian residents, too.
Feb 2011 - if you have OW Gold, you'll be LH SEN (*A Gold) till Feb 11 and LH FTL (*A Silver) till Feb 2013!
AY does publicly match *A status (or even giving it away, without matching!) on certain conditions (ex-Germany to Asia, ex-Korea to Europe, etc - one return flight gets you AY Gold) Who knows, maybe they'll match privately, if you ask nicely? :)
(I have a strange feeling about this - I "worked" hard last year to qualify for both LH and AY Gold, and now it turns out any one of them would have been enough.)

Actually you will first check it out as no status passenger since the requirement is to fly a single roundtrip flight before being status matched. Of course you could also fly OS (or LX, OU etc. but those are a bit harder to access ex-HEL) and your original statement would still hold true :)
I am still looking for cheap LH or other eligible flights ex-HEL to fullfil the requirements. All ideas are welcome.

Are those OS offers ex-HEL still available? There were quite a few destinations (AMS, CDG, OTP, ATH, IST, FCO, MXP, BUD etc.) available for 149 EUR all in. These fares are not exactly MR-material as there's a Sat night stay requirement and availability on Sundays seemed to be a little tight, but if you want to turn it into a nice extended summer weekend break you could swat two flies with one strike.
If that fails the best option are to search wide for el cheapo FRA or MUC r/t on LH. It might be too late to score any 99€ tickets, but it should be possible to find some availability for less than 200€. You just need to be very flexible with dates and be prepared to fly in the middle of the week. The multiple day search on the LH website shoudl be able to find you something.

Sounds too good to be true.
Yes, it's true, but with reservations:
If you have two eVouchers, you can upgrade your seat on an intercontinental flight. eVouchers are non-transferable, but they can be redeemed for a travelling companion. Here's another benefit: eVouchers never expire!

As the campaign is in Finland, the main (but not the only) target group is obviously AY - the terms say "any non-*A FFP elite", so if you are a gold member in e.g. SriLankan's FlySmiles, they'd have to match it.

I personally would only use this offer (have to move one of the OW accounts to Finland first) if flying Europe - US. The connection via Munich and Charlotte seems to be the most convenient for my needs and destinations.
No interest to use LH on pure intra-European flights where they are inferior to Finnair and BA (and Air Berlin), in my opinion. Also not that convenient to fly to my usual German haunts DUS and TXL via FRA.

That is unnecessary because LH has no access to the information on your OW accounts (other than the level and card number which you fax to them). The only thing that matters is that your Miles and More card (temporary or old) is based in Finland.

Even though they claim that you need to take a roundtrip flight in order to be qualified for the new status I got my FTL already after the outbound flights. Mind you it involved a connection in FRA, so maybe they simplified the rules and just looked for 2 segments.
That's not too bad as it also meant I earned the status bonus on the return flights.
What was bad is that the lounge warden at VIE had no way of verifying my FTL status with the temporary card and refused an entry to the lounge - I volunteered to show the status from the website but that wouldn't do. Then again he said that I wouldn't be allowed to bring and guests as a FTL anyway and I was traveling with the family so it didn't really matter.

By the way: my colleague mentioned something important: if you have EuroBonus (or other Star Alliance card), make sure that your booking mentions the M&M number (not the EuroBonus number, which may be in your profile at the travel agency), so that your flight is credited to M&M. ;)

Sad. In my experience the M/M FTL beats all other *A cards, even gold levels. *gold gives you on LH on waitlist priority, Business check-in, more luggage and lounge access. FTL has those too. And these FTL advantages are recognized by all M/M companies (LX, LG, LO, OS... and SN soon too). When I was FTL and flew with LH, I was upgraded several times, but my colleague with SAS EBG was not. While there's a lot of .....ing going in the M&M forum, I agree, that M&M beats EB hands down and blindfolded... Somewhat more difficult to achieve (100/135k in one year vs 45/55k) but is valid for two years so you need to requalify every other year*. And there is a soft landing to FTL, again valid for 2 yrs. And if SEN beats EBG hands down, I can't even find the right expression to compare FTL to EBS.
*giving a nice opportunity to re-qualify for AY Gold in between :D

You're wrong re AA commment, see posts 52-54 (1 page back). AA Gold was not comped to SEN, and fyi AA Gold = OW Ruby = BA Blue..
BA Silver is correctly comped to FTL. SEN = BA Gold. Of course not all equal or comparable, but no way BA Silver is same as SEN.
If she is happy with BA Silver benefits then experience will be similar with FTL.
Yep, it seems you are partly right. I was reading only the post #52 not #54. But they are still comping AY Gold to SEN and my opinnion is that BA Silver is better than AY gold. But we all have different tastes and needs.

Agree it is a bit odd they don't simply compare OW level with *A level.

Just out of curiosity, what makes you think so? Naturally status with the airline one flies the most makes best sense but other than that, what's the trick with BA Silver over AY Gold? Personally I don't value BA Silver that much at all but like you said we all have our own priorities..

I fly mainly on BA so as you said it is best to focus to the preferred airline. BA MFUs are excellent value on long haul flight. Also BA op ups are good quite common these days. AY haven't ever upgraded me. Yes, I know AY gives out upgrade vouchers but still their service attitude isn't as good as BA's. BA baggage policy is superior for Silvers compared to AY. And almost forgot to say, BA Silver is way easier to get :D
It would be nice to hear your agruments.

I agree on all points you mentioned regarding BA but to me you were mostly comparing BAEC/AYPlus and/or the airlines in general, not the tier levels that were the initial topic.... BA Silver vs. AY Gold.. ;)
I prefer AY top status over BA as it's valid for 24monts at one go + the vouchers + I fly AY more than BA.
To conclude I'd say that AY Plus is not enough as the only OW program for someone who really flies heavily with OW... and AA alone is not enough as then intra US lounge access becomes an issue..that's why I have decided to stick with 3 of them, AA+BA on the side and AY as my main plan, at least for now...

In a brilliant display of automated business processes I today received a regular M&M card in the mail, four days after I received the FTL card by express mail.
What a waste. Luckily my daughter likes to play with these plastic cards so that's a new toy for her then.
Same thing happened to me. I got my Senator card delivered about a week after the status showed and the blue card followed two days later .-)

I don't know why, but I really like that small touch.
I'm considering starting to collect miles on M&M for real...
Since AF/KL destroyed the Lying Blue program I concentrated most of my flights to LH and would have got FTL anyway. But the status match was really good anyway. The first L/H flight to U.S. after the status match I was op-up:ed. One month later on a other LH flight to U.S. I was op-up:ed again. ^
LH will have all my business and of course their strategy working. There are so many collegues and friends I have been able to recommend LH & M&M to, and that have started flying with them. Will be 20 000 miles from SEN status but don't think I will run for it this year.
