Since DL has introduced a second bag fee on international routes from July 1. What about DL-coded flight operated by AF? And KL coded flights operated by NW[DL]?

Passengers traveling on AF217 to USA will be allowed to check-in 2 free bags and those traveling on DL8706 (operated by AF217) will be allowed to check-in only 1 free bag?

Passengers traveling on KL6791 (operated by NW791[operated by DL]) to USA will be allowed to check-in 2 free bags and those traveling on NW791 [operated by DL] will be allowed to check-in only 1 free bag?

I hope AF KL don't follow DL NW and introduce a second bag fee.

Welcome to FlyerTalk!!

Baggage fees are always handled by the operator of the initial flight - i.e. the people you are handing your bags to. If you are on the DL code but it is AF operated you'd still check in with AF and therefore receive that baggage allowance.

So traveling on a KL ticket on a NW[DL] operated flight will allow only 1 free bag though KL/AF don't have that restriction yet?

I believe so. Such is the joy of codesharing flights.
