DC seems like the best place to bounce up my AA balance. What is a reasonable trade value of a DC point in relation to a UA,US,NW or DL mile available for an award?

1 DC= ??? DL mile
1 DC= ??? NW mile
1 DC= ??? US mile
1 DC= ??? UA mile

Thanks for the help

I think it would be similar to I MR point, on the one hand, and it might be similar to 1 AA mile, 1.x BA miles, etc (ie, what you can typically convert DC points to).

Keep in mind that you can't trade actual DC points with most people. What you can do is you can trade a redemption of DC points. The disctinction is that, unless the other party is willing to wait for a year, you can't wait until a once-a-year redemption bonus is happening. So the value of the DC point to someone who wants BA miles, for example, is going to vary depending on whether you're trading at a time when you can do a BA redemption bonus or not.

Meanwhile, how is someone who has, say, DL miles going to give them to you? Again, what they can easily do is give you a redemption of DL miles. But unless someone pays the steep "transfer" fees, you're not going to get DL, NW, US, or UA miles in you DL, NW, US, or UA account, you're simply going to get a redemption.

I'd say DC should be higher than MR points.
-DC can go to many desireable programs that Mr doesnt have, like AA.
-DC often has promotions, like the current 35K DC=41K AA, or the BA and DL promos.
-The SPG transfer rate on MR is 1,000:333, with DC it is 1,250:750.

I've only traded small amounts of amex for dc transferred into AA, DL, NWA, US accts to top them off (max of 5k miles deposited)

for me
its always been 1000 amex deposited into their account yielding 1000 miles
for the resultant 1000 miles deposited into my accts from dc

and sometimes trade partners got more that 1000 miles deposited as there were amex transfer bonuses on

So the value of the DC point to someone who wants BA miles, for example, is going to vary depending on whether you're trading at a time when you can do a BA redemption bonus or not.

Just so there is no confusion DC points can be redeemed for miles into anyone's frequent flyer account in all of their airline partners except for BA, Frontier and Korean Airlines - redemptions in those three airlines can only be made into accounts in the DC cardholder's name.

Thru the years I've done literally dozens of DC redemptions into other people's airline accounts, mostly AA but also some DL and even a few Alaska and Virgin Atlantic (and in the good old days into UA when they were still a DC partner). People like them because miles for most major players post in 2 business days or less (AA often post overnight) and they are a quick/easy way to get a few miles when needing to "top off" an account needing a few miles to reach the next desired award level.
