Other Car Rental Programs/Partners (ie. Alamo, Enterprise, Sixt) - Bumped the car... what to do with Amex insurance?

I rented a car at Enterprise and bumped it while backing up. It was paid with an Amex Business Gold card. I have to return the car on Sunday morning but the Enterprise counter is closed that day so I just have to drop the key in the box. The thing is that I'm going away for two weeks after that and won't be reachable meanwhile. I'd like to know how I should handle this. Do I need to pay for repair and then get Amex to pay the bill or should I have Amex pay it directly? I have no idea how much the repairs cost and how Enterprise will evaluate the costs or if they will even bother (The paint on the bumper was slightly scratched). I don't want to get a huge charge on my card and not be able to claim it back with the insurance.
thanks!

The fact that it's Enterprise might change how this is handled. I heard they farm out the repair work on their fleet to local shops to remain in their good graces for referring customers. I'm sure those shops will charge more than what a regular customer would pay for the same work. The other companies might do the repair work in-house.

Then again, Enterprise might charge you and not fix it. Last weekend they gave me a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan with 38k mi, embedded stains all over the front floor, and two dents on the left sliding door. They said it was all they could get, since the big vehicles are on turnback right now. It had Stow N Go, and they stayed open past their usual closing time to accommodate me, so I can't complain that much.

You should call Amex and ask them. They will tell you what you should do.

It also depends on the state. I once rented an economy car from Enterprise and mentioned a pre-existing rear bumper ding. The agent said NY does not allow them to charge for bumpers.

Call the office when they reopen on Monday AM and tell them you're just calling to make sure everything went fine with your return and that they got your keys and closed your contract. Also ask them to fax or mail a copy of your receipt to you. If they noticed any damage to the car they'll probably mention it then and ask you to file an "incident report" describing the circumstances surrounding the damage. You can then take it from there with AMEX. If they don't mention anything about the damage when you call it's probably not significant enough for them to charge you and you're probably in the clear.

I'm curious, what ended up happening with this?
