Here's the scoop:
I want to fly nonstop VCE-FCO (a route I fly very often and always on AZ). AZ is offering 49 euros all-in one way for tickets purchased through 31 July for travel well into October. I want to collect the segments on my AF/KL Flying Blue Plat card as the miles are just embarassingly low to collect. However, as of yet, no AP operated flights or AZ flight numbers 6000-6399 can earn FB miles/segments. Here is the problem: the 1015am departure is AP6361 is a MD80. AP does not have any MD80s. Only AZ. So, how can an AP flight number (there is no AZ flight number) be operated by AP with an AZ plane, but no AZ flight number? I'd take the 1110am AZ flight, however I would be late for the lunch. The 1015am is perfect timing and allows a nice little cushion for any delays. I don't get it. Obviously, at the gate, that 1015am plane will be painted green, red, and white with the same surly AZ FA's slinging biscotti and San Benedetto acqua frizzante at me, but there is no AZ flight number. Only AP. Frustrating!!
