Priceline is currently running a promotion where you can get $100 in credit for booking two hotel rooms at once: http://tinyurl.com/qpkexr

The caveats: you can book either through their transparent or name-your-own-price engines (though no Marriott bookings when using the transparent engine), and the $100 comes back to you (4-6 weeks later) in the form of 5 $20 credits, where you can use one credit per room/night on a name-your-own-price 3* or 4* hotel.

You have to use the credit by 12/31, and it isn't clear if the $100 credit can be divided across multiple stays.

Obviously, if you're already planning to make these sort of bookings, this is a pretty good deal. However, I'm wondering if it can also be gamed a bit. There are some podunk 2* hotels out there that people have won for bids of $20-25. One might be able to book such a pair of rooms, and then have essentially $50 off of their 5-night stay.

Thoughts? Anything I'm missing?

Well, this could be useful if you have the need to book 2 rooms at the same time (like for your kids or for friends).

What you'll get, though, is a single use certificate good for $20/off night for up to 5 nights on a future opaque booking. So if you use it for only 2 nights, you'll only save $40 and forfeit the rest.

If I needed to book a 2 room hotel, I'd certainly use the link to try to find a good opaque deal.
