Asiana Club - OZ reward seats can't be seen on ANA??

I have been looking on ANA for OZ availability over the past week and whenever I search the availabilty boxes all have - put through them (not applicable). For the majority of the year the availability is showing fine. Although for the dates 17/07-19/08 all availability is blocked out. Is there a reason for this?

Yup - OZ have blackout dates where other Star members can't redeem on OZ at all. OZ's own members have to redeem more miles to redeem a flight during these dates.

That's a shame. I was looking for NRT-ICN-HKG in F. Currently flying UA F to TPE and then TG F to HKG. Do any seats open up closer to the date of departure or are they blocked out completely with no chance of redeeming at all?

For those periods, they are completely blocked, and there is no chance of redeeming at all.

No availability on NH C? I think I'd rather go for that over a transit for such a short pair of segments...

NH C is available but no F lounge access, no Dom and no chance to try out some other airlines F products (I want to see how naff UA really is lol). I was also wanting a night/day in a different city and TPE sounded appealing. As does ICN.

Be prepared OZ F for NRT-ICN-HKG is actually old F, they use frequently with the only 744 with old seats for short hops. Then you will find the seats much worse than UA F. OZ old F seat only have two buttons, one for recline, one for legrest to go up. PTV is almost non-existing, many broken PTV, bad quality of pictures, several movies run in a loop, you will regret you are on that plane.

OZ F is not as good as before especially on short hop either, no more soup, entrees gotten much smaller. (take a look at my trip report, they ran out of my C option, got replace by F entree) Oh Btw, coming back from HKG, OZ C and F both use the crappy KA lounge, you don't have any choice due to location of the OZ gate in HKG.

I would definately go for NH C NRT-HKG especially on the morning flight on the 77W or 744, they also has the amenity basket like on long haul, on OZ, you only get the slippers. If not, keep your same routing, you can still use NH F lounge at NRT, TG F and UA IFL in HKG.
