Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Transfer at CDG

I will be flying from JFK to CDG aboard AF and connecting to CX on to HKG with 1:30 connection time. I arrive in 2E at CDG and then depart out of 2A for HKG. I have two concerns:

1) Can the transit desk in 2E print off a BP for my onward segment to HKG? In order for me to take the ADP (or whatever the inter-terminal bus) without leaving immigration/customs, I would need to show a BP, and the CX doesn't allow me to print off a BP if my final destinatin is NOT HKG (which is my case).

2) Does anyone have any info/experience/suggestions for this whole transiting thing at CDG, especially between 2E and 2A--which I've been told is a mess for transiting pax?

Weird indeed. But I think the best place to post is on the AF forum where pax have more experience in CDG transit. Why do you say that you cannot OLCI the CDG-HKG-xxx?
Anyway my short answer is that it is a risky transfer, especially for luggage. It is not uncommon for late JFK flights to be delayed for takeoff by an hour. Why dont you get an earlier AF flight, there are many from JFK? Not worth taking the risk and losing your CX flight.

Sorry...didn't meant to replicate the thread: I guess I had a more specific question regarding the whole process. It seems that timing wise, I will be ok when it comes to getting from 2E to 2A; however, the issue is whether I can get on the inter-terminal bus that would allow me to have enough time. This inter-terminal bus situation is predicated on the fact that I have an onward BP that shows me leaving from 2A.

I've posted on the AF forum, but no one seems to have a definite answer--at least to the aforementioned question/issue. I'm not sure that many people (or at least it appears this way) change alliance (Skyteam to OneWorld, for instance) in mid-transit.

As for the flight out of JFK, I'm not sure that I can change my flight time without triggering a repricing--which I suspect may be somewhat pricey. You're right though about the issue of timing; to be quite honest, I am a bit worried as to whether I'll make it in time, especially if there's a delay! Luggage is also another big issue. I remember checking in at the transit desk at NRT (from CO to KE), and the kind woman had a manifest with luggage info. She would cross my name out and make sure that my luggage made it to ICN. Then again, this ticket was all on ST--not multiple airlines from different alliances.

Indeed, I just noticed that you also posted on AF forum a few days ago. JOUY31 is a very reliable source of info, so trust what he says. You can get to the bus with a printed itinerary rather than the BP. But I would never risk doing that, as CX flight closes (I think) an hour before departure, so you will get to the CX lounge too late to check in. Again, I do not see why you cannot OLCI your CDG-HKG flight before leaving JFK (you can allways take care of the next one at the lounge or gate). If you cant, I would appreciate to know your source as it seems weird. You could also call CX in NY to find out about interlining with AF, and/or AF at JFK. If it is on the same PNR (ticket), I doubt that there would be a problem to get your BP there. But again, OLCI is a simple option.

Thanks a million for the response :). JOUY31 has been in touch with me, and I'm not sure that he could offer additional help regarding how I'm to get specifically my onward CX BP at CDG in order to use the bus. But if I'm understanding you correctly, are you're suggesting that a printed online itinerary will suffice for my situation--that I will be permitted to use the bus to get to 2A?

I may have misstated the issue of online check-in via CX's website. I think I can check in online but cannot print a BP: <http://www.cathaypacific.com/cpa/en_US/selfprintboardingpass>. Now, if it's indeed true that a printed itinerary--say from Expedia.com--will suffice, then it seems that having a BP in hand would be a moot point.

And if CX closes its gates 60 mins prior to departure, I fear that I'm looking at a misconnect :(. Do you think I can make it from 2E to 2A in 30 mins or less?

They close check-in 60 minutes prior to departure, not the gate. If you have done OLCI (and even printed a copy of the pseudo boarding card) then I believe you would be OK to go to the lounge or gate to get the "real" boarding card. That should be possible up until the gate closes (let's say T-20).

A fellow FTer has suggested that I go ahead and get to JFK a little earlier and head to the CX ticketing counter to get my CDG-HKG-DPS BPs printed off. I just hope that they're able to print off two segments of my itinerary without CX operating on JFK-CDG. Anyone know if that should be alright?

I think this is the best course of action at this point--that is, unless CX says it can't print of a BP because I haven't traveled on the first segment yet. In which case, it's back to the drawing board...
