MilesBuzz! - Earn UA/DL (maybe US?) miles when booking online - REGARDLESS of airline!

If you're willing to trust that UA's Mileage Plus Mall will give you the miles that it promises, then you can now book your travel through them and
Overstock (http://mileageplusmall.com/Merchant/Merchant.asp?id=22107). According to the M+ mall, you can get 1.5 miles/dollar spent with them & you can book travel through Overstock.com the same way you'd book through Orbitz or Travelocity or Expedia and the booking fee is only $2.95.

So, what that means is, that you can buy travel from the airline malls (DL, UA, & US - not 100% sure about US - just saw that they work with Advantex (http://www.advantex.com/), who are the owners of the Airline Malls) and earn miles from their programs.

So, if you have to buy a ticket that costs more than 667.00, you'll get at least 1000 miles for it. Also, if you have to buy a ticket on another airline, you can still earn UA/DL and possibly US miles for it.

Of course there is a $2.95 fee, but if you want a ticket that isn't pricing out on the airlines own website, but prices out on Expedia or Travelocity or Orbitz, chances are, it'll price out on Overstock.com.

Editted to add - Overstock.com also rents cars & books hotel rooms & does cruises - when you go to it (link through the malls when you purchase) there's a bar accross the top - click on Travel.

Of if you want to actually get the miles without reapeated emails, you can get 1 miles/$ spent on AA, DL, or HP at by shopping through Overstock at Airmilesmart.com

I was thinking about that - is it much better?

Say you buy a 500.00 plane ticket - it'll cost you 502.95 for it. That will earn you approximately 755 miles, right? So, 1% back is equal to $5.03. Would you rather have the $5.03 back in your pocket or the miles at $0.006 (that's "point six" cents) per mile. I think that's much better. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I'm still missing 5,000 miles from December purchases at officemax. I'd trust mileageplus mall about as far as I could throw them

I completely understand your frustrations with the whole Office Max thing - as long as you got your Office Max miles posted with a post date in December during the promotional period, you should be getting the 5K when they do a sweep - I haven't gottem my 5K yet either - but as it was explained in the post on the UA forum, it wasn't 100% the Mileage Plus mall people's fault - UA allowed Office Max to do their reporting differently (and some other retailers) which lead to the complete screw-up. Other M+ mall transactions in the past have posted with no issues (at least for me) - it's the creditting of the Bonus Miles that's generally the issue. A simple phone call to M+ usually resolves bonus mile issues. I trust the M+ mall, just not all the retailers on M+ - the people that own it, Advantex, were very responsive & did help a lot with getting Office Max motivated to resolve their reporting issues. In terms of Overstock.com, I've ordered stuff from them many times in the past & I've always gotten really good prices with good customer service - gleff had a post on his blog about a 7.00 garment bag (American Tourister) and I bought that & have used Overstock.com several times. I bought the 2nd Lord of the Rings DVD through them & that actually came before they releasted in the store for 10 bucks less than the store price...overall, I'm satisfied with them.

Or build a quick little website, then sign up for linkshare.com -- get affiliate links for Orbitz and the other travel partners they've got (eg Delta, Site59, Enterprise Rent a Car, Cheaptickets, Discountfares).

Here's an example. Book your travel via Orbitz clicking on your own link to get there and receive:
$5 per air ticket
$12 for every OrbitzSaver hotel booking
$6 per retail hotel booking
$2 per car rental

Gleff,

Great minds think alike! I've been doing this exact strategy for quite some time now.
