bmi diamond club - Free Hilton Silver / Gold VIP card AND double points & miles to 31/8

Sorry if this has already been discussed but I got a very nice surprise in the post this morning. A silver VIP HHonours card, the blurb that came with it said BMI but did not seem to give a reason. I can only guess that it's because of my gold card in which case I would keep your eyes peeled for postie! Silver level does not seem to get you very much but 15% bonus points is better than nothing.

Get the feeling its a mass mailing.. I got it too as a Silver, who is about to degrade to the lowly levels of B+. No Hh status

The HH silver perks are extremely limited: free use of the gym and that's about it:td:

I got HH VIP Gold from BA two years ago. It's dropped back down to Blue now though. Perhaps I should delete my HH account to be in with a chance to get a new one?

Current HH Status: Blue

I dont want to spoil anybody's day but.... purely for information sake I will let you know that I got a visit from the postie this morning with a HH Gold VIP card on the bmi partner letter. It joins a few others, but might be a useful mileage earning opportunity.

My father got a HH Silver letter this morning (he's a BD Silver). Hope I get one, as it seems to give you double destinations and hilton miles over the summer after the current triple miles promo has expired.

Am I correct in thinking one should set their Hilton HHonors preferences to points + fixed miles?

Yes. :)

BD Gold. HH Gold.
No offer. Yet.

Oxon Flyer,
Would you then amend the thread title to "... Gold/Silver VIP card"

i tend not to put them all on the profile because it looks rather ostentatious ;)

'tis done.

I'll save the "diamond" option until my letter comes on Monday.

Just wondering whether this is targetted only at those folks without a current HH account, or else is "upgrading" those that do.

I can't tell you exactly what the letter said as my dad read it out to me over the phone. However it was along the lines of double destinations and Hilton HHonors base points until 31 August 2009

I see those funny people over on the BA Board seem to have a similar offer (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/british-airways-executive-club/952346-complimentary-hh-gold-vip.html#post11722378)being thrown at them.

Well the good news is that you can merge HH accounts, so if you get one with a long expiry, you're on a winner!

I was always going on to Addi about that before she moved on; saying it would be a nice benefit to go with the Hertz Gold, and she had it on her list to look at she said.

Maybe BMI have decided to give it a go.

No letter for me, currently Gold with HHonors until March 2010, so a 2011 Goldie would be nice, fingers crossed.

Congrats to all who have had their letter. Mrs 20-Horse is a BD*S (thanks to my miles not her flying), we will see if she gets a silver in the post.

Best wishes.

This is what the letter says:

Earn double Points & Miles®.

Earn double HHonors Base points and double bmi destinations miles for all qualifying stays at any Hilton Family hotel by 31 August 2009.

Use your new Hilton HHonors® membership card each time you check in, and watch your Points & Miles® add up Redeem HHonors points for free stays, premier holidays and more. It's our way of saying, thanks for staying with us.

Bit of a shame if they are chucking Gold VIP cards around to only get Silver but it's better than nothing. I have no current HHonors accounts. As a bit of a Marriott boy I may give them a try, it is becoming hard to find Marriott properties that are sensibly priced at the moment.

Seems BA members got a better deal than us mere BD members.

I guess that puts us in our place. :D

FWIW I got a Silver card, although as I doubt I will stay in a Hilton (we are not hotel whores - we choose hotels on where we want to stay and not on brand), it really does little for me.

That's exactly what I did this morning. Already have HH Gold until April 2010, but called HHonors Cust Service with the new instant Gold VIP card info and they merged accounts to secure Gold status until March 2011.

Combine that with the double miles and bonus points and a nice surprise indeed! ^

Blimey, now I'm feeling unloved! No sign of such bonuses with my Silver VIP card, rotters. I know it's childish and I should be grateful for getting anything but reading that others are getting more makes me think 'well s0d you then Hilton, I'm sticking with Marriott!'

Winge, moan, complain, whaaaa whaaaa..... :)

BA Silver is comparative to BD Gold anyway, so appropriate that they get HH Gold. So again, still not poor cousins. If BA Blue got them, then I'd agree.

Oh and nothing from the postie here. If something arrives on Monday, I'll change my London stays next week to Hilton though to show my appreciation!

Spoilsports only gave me silver! :D

Just received a similar offer from those nice folks at Flying Blue - Hilton gold card for Platinum members. I seem to get this every year despite being Hilton gold.

antichef
May 10, 09, 11:54 am
My BA and BD Golds were renewed in February, so I have all the lounge access I need for a while. (I have not had this offer through BA though).

{Oxon Flyer did ask about reporting the eligible programs ;)} Well when I got Marriott Gold, it did tempt me to use them a few times as I got a room upgrade, but as I have not used them enough to maintain Gold this year so it will soft land down the tiers. As IHG Plat I still regularly get a room upgrade. My Best Western went down to Gold this year, but I dont think I can see me using them much so it will soft land to nothing. My SAS gold has also lapsed during this year. When over 200 nights per year were away the bling of the cards is easily acquired, although I got that down to about 150 nights last year. I found I was changing hotel chains every week or every month for a bit of variety! That was before FT taught me how to hotel bed-hop to be a points tart!! :D

Mrs Antichef is BD*S but she has not got the HHonors offer at all either, not that she would notice.

Quality of life has picked up in inverse proportion to the travel downturn [not counting that I have discovered mrs antichef snores!!]. I doubt that I will do much serious hotel stays until later this year when work threatens to have me away 4-5 days a week for a few months, and flights and points will start to crank up again. I dont expect to make the points bonus offered here by HH, but might be tempted to give them a go later in the year. In that respect it gives a relatively cheap low cost win for them. If I like it I might transfer some of my business to them, but probably unlikely as they are not where I usually am going (other than transit through LHR - which I am desperately trying to avoid).

Whilst my travel patterns and hotel stays are vastly reduced since last December I am not at all unhappy about it! Clearly that is the effect that carriers and hotels are seeing more widely - and why we are getting these offers.

Just to confirm, I've a diamond HH, and nothing has come through the post, so I'd assume either I'm unloved, or they're being clever and checking status.

As for BMI partner letters... have I made a schoolboy error and not ticked the right box somewhere? I don't remember getting any. I'm guessing I've not signed up to partner letters?

I have a BD*G account and am already Silver VIP at HH...
Let's see are they going to send me a new (Gold?) HH card or not...
Will report here if any posty came.

Or, maybe I will get another HH VIP as an AF E+ member:D

Just got mine on my return from DUB... only its on a United Mileage Plus and Hilton Honors branded mail out. I got a Gold Valid through 03/2011... I have not credited miles to UA for about 2 years, however I was diverting all my Priority Club points to keep my mileage balance the alive... I stopped doing that in Jan this year...

This thread is not about links or comping. There is a new hotel partnership started between bmi and Hilton. We have each received a targeted mailshot from HH (see post #1), presumably based on our bmi status.

This thread is about people posting what offer they have received IN THE LETTER POSTED TO THEM and trying to guess what links to bmi status it might have (if any).

Or in what appears to be the majority of cases, has NOT been received by members at all status levels. However for those who have received something, then ^

its no big deal - i have tried to make two separate bookings since "acquiring" the new status, and in both cases the booking system was a nightmare, so i ditched it and went back to normal.... so as a marketing tool it worked, but the sales follow up to it was a flop.:(

Then i remembered that this was the special partnership link with bmi and thought that my new Gold number got put to a SPECIAL software booking service that would make us feel at home
