Another major European airline has announced plans to service Baghdad with passenger flights.
BMI airlines, currently in the process of being taken over by German carrier Lufthansa, flies from the UK to a variety of politically sensitive destinations, including Sierra Leone, Lebanon and Iran.
BMI has held talks with Iraqi government officials about adding Baghdad to its network and plans to lobby the UK to lift a ban on direct travel between the UK and Iraq.

The article doesn't actually mention any other firm plans by other European carriers. There's a vague sort of "agreement" by Air France/KLM, but no actual schedules or routes have been announced. Otherwise, the article mentions a single flight by a Swedish charter company.

I'm all for establishing new airline connections, but it's hard to call this a "Baghdad bandwagon" just yet.
