Any reason to join privelege club as opposed to racking up United?

Any particular insights...lounges, etc. I guess it must only be business over there and no 1st class.

gracias

No reason to join Privilege Club if you're not going to fly QR again.

If you are flying business or first class, you will be shuttled into the Premium Terminal for your connection in Doha.

I am not sure what you mean by your last sentence; the IAH-DOH must be a three-class plane, and for BAH-DOH, the one time I flew it it was only two-class, but I am not sure if it's the same on all flights on that route.

If you fly ex IAH before May31st, 2009 you will get a 10000 miles bonus in Economy and a 20000 miles bonus in Business one-way. This is only for Privilege members and not for UA FF members...so it all depends whether you want to join or not; I learned, QR has quite a few promotions for their Privilege members recently, like 50% add-on mileage to South-Africa till 30apr09...

The Lounge for Silver- and Gold members is nothing to yell about; even in Gold-Lounge the selection of food and drinks were minimal, but, at least, it gives you a quiet place to unwind the hustle and bustle of DOH Airport.
Never been to the Premium Terminal, so cannot advise you about that.

The IAH-DOH is on a Boeing 777-200LR with 2 classes, but business class is the most updated version, almost like EK's 77W first class!

I would suggest joing Privelage Club to get the Bonus Miles, and then possibly convert them to whatever rewards program you have, if possible.

I stand corrected, my apologies. I am very surprised to hear this.
